They added Felton, Speights and Bass. They lost Aldrich and Jeff Green. I don't see any real improvement there.
I like their rookies, I like that Wesley Johnson's role is gonna expand. I hate their team but they have positioned themselves nicely.

The Clippers will be better just by staying healthy. But if I were them I would have preferred to have kept Aldrich and Green over Felton, Speights and Bass. Green never really played with the Clips while Griffin was healthy. He and Wesley Johnson would have been a good combo at sf. Plus he plays PF as well. I am glad he left.

I still don't know what to make about this team. They really over performed last season. At least to any rational fan. They probably were overlooked by a lot of teams last year, and that won't happen this year. We still don't have that big to take pressure off our back court, which is a legitimately great back court. Our defense on paper improved tremendously with Ezeli and Turner. Assuming no trades or major injuries take place, 44 wins and the 5th seed.

I agree, the records just don't look right. The Blazers will win 56 games this year, and will contend with Clippers and Spurs for the 2-4 spots. A lot of you might think I'm out of my mind for saying that or just being a homer. But, with Tim Duncan retired, LaMarcus Aldridge Is going to screw San Antonio over, he's proven that his play will never be more than the lackadasical bloated menagery that it is...plus I'm not convinced the Clippers have gotten any better with Bass and Speights. I think the Blazers will be at least 3rd if not 2nd
People say they got better because they added Gasol but they lost Duncan, Diaw, Boban, and West. They downgraded. I think the 2 seed is definitely attainable.

1.) Overperforming is the dumbest term in sports. You perform well if you're capable. Your performance defines you. There's no such thing as overperforming.

2.) If we were so overlooked, why did we start 11-21, when teams were most likely to overlook us? And then how come we j were able to put together good stretches ending 33-17 when we were battling other teams for playoff spots?

3.) I think the upgrade in ball handling and playmaking at SF (Turner over Aminu) will take as much pressure off them as any big would.

4.) How can you say our defense improved tremendously but then say our CEILING is only as good as we were last year? Makes no sense.

Some people act like pessimists are realistic while "homers" or "soccer mom's" have no logic. But thats not always the case...

The Spurs are gonna drop heavily imo. I think Parker/Ginobili are on their last year of basketball, Pop post-Duncan is going to be interesting to watch. The Spurs are going to have to bank on Kyle Anderson turning into a stud. Their rotation is out of whack at this point too...

Parker / Mills
Green / Manu
Kawhi / Anderson
LA
Gasol / Dedmon

82-0. Got it

I personally think preseason predictions are pretty much nonsense. Teams have not finished making moves, we don't know who will be healthy or not, young players (like CJ) can have break-out years. At best they are a rough guide.

There are things I lose sleep over. Preseason predictions are not one of them.

I wouldnt say the Blazers over performed. I'd say they played to their potential. They played a very unselfish brand of basketball, that other teams couldn't find an answer for..."but coach their passing the ball, who knows who is going to shoot, they all shoot." The Blazers are better then last year with Evans and Ezeli, they will win more then the 44 they took last year, that number is a mediocre safe guess.

I tried to give a thoughtful answer, and you wrote a book tearing it apart.
You kind of invite that kind of response when you begin your post with statements like "They really over performed last season. At least to any rational fan." Perhaps it's not your intention, but it comes off as implying that anyone who sees it differently is objectively wrong.

The ironic part of that is that you are basically saying that anyone who predicted the team to be above .500 last year was irrational, yet those are the predictions that were most accurate. If the homers are closer to reality than the pessimists, which group was proven to be more rational?

Like my posts, and others like me are perceived wrong because we don't agree with the homers?

Last year, the homers were. Other years, not so much

This.

MM, its your insistence that rationality doesn't exist in Homers that is fairly irritating.

Seems the pessimist were proven wrong and the Homers were proven to be more rational based on the outcome.

EDIT: How do I remove the attached file? I didnt even mean to do that. I think its a screen shot from my work pc. :) lol.

You sound silly when you continue to make irrational comments.

It doesn't help your argument that you and the other pessimists are so rational.
How does the same person badgering me about the word rational, like your post? Is it just because it agrees with him? Not interested in conversation, just beating people down until they agree with the masses.

First, my name is Jason or Orion. No need to disrespect me like that. I'm not trying to disrespect you and I know your big on that. :)
Do you not get his cynicalness(sp?) with the use of the word Irrational? I got it.
Your insistence that your getting beat down is of your own opinion. You called fans who disagree with you irrational Honestly. What do you expect? How would you expect us to react?

Until you start discussing your use of the word irrational and how it fits with fans who disagree with you, then you will never get a real conversation. You will only get.."beat down". :)

For the record, I don't take any of this seriously and Id STILL share a beer with you MM... but man your irrational behavior is not becoming when you call everyone else irrational for disagreeing with you and then go on a rant about how your getting picked on just because you don't agree with us...
You do see the double standard right?

I brought up 4 very logical points as to why you are wrong, but apparently you didn't read it because it was a "book". It's not about being a "homer" or not. It's about having logical opinions... which you struggle with.

I brought up 4 points of disagreement hoping you'd have a logical, rational CONVERSATION about them, but you were too lazy to even read and just complained about it "being a book". And now you want to complain about others not being interested in conversation? Oh the hypocrisy...

LOL at owning. Sorry I didn't fall in line. Anything short of 55 wins wouls be stupid to guess. There
Like you really don't even focus on basketball. Apparently to you there's a god damn line between "rational people" and "homers". If someone predicts a better season, then they're an irrational homer, no matter the logic and basketball knowledge they bring to the table.

So whoever doesn't fall in line with you is irrational fuck (which you've called me before) and a homer. But then whenever someone logically disagrees with you, you complain about being "beaten down by the masses" and you post gems like this one: Sarcastically apologizing for not "FALLING IN LINE" ! Lmao.
