Here's his prediction:

First team: Stephen Curry | Russell Westbrook
Second team: Chris Paul | Kyle Lowry
Third team: James Harden | Damian Lillard

I think that's perfectly fair. Klay, Butler, and DeRozen are snubbed but Dame has done more for his team than those 3 in my opinion. Am I missing another snub?

To me there is absolutely no significance in making this team. NBA or otherwise.
But if it makes Dame happy to be voted to it then i guess it means something.

In his one rare case there is for Dame in money. If he makes at least the 3rd team he gets a bigger max contract from us than he would have gotten.

Although in the wording of that link it makes it seem like Dame might have turned down that option.

I think it also makes him wealthier, no?

It's a big honor. 24 players make the All Star team. Only 15 make All NBA and 9 of them must be forwards and centers. And yes, Dame makes more money so yes, it matters.

Not exactly going out on a limb. Breaking history with his numbers this year. HOF career in the making!

As others have said, he will impact our cap by quite a bit more if he makes the team.

Dame agreed to only take 27.5% if he makes the All-NBA team instead of the full 30% he could get. So it won't be quite the max. If he doesn't make the team he gets 25%. So it'll only cost us around ~$3 mil more per season.

Making an All NBA team is a bigger honor then the All Star game. Fewer players earn that honor, it's based on the entire season & the voting process isn't a convoluted popularity/political joke. This isn't the first time I've heard media rumblings of Dame making the team this year... he's right on the cusp.

STOMP

Dame is carrying this rebuilding project into the playoffs on his back.

He should be all NBA. We'll see I guess.

Yeah it's not much of a hindrance if he makes it. About the same as what we'll have Varejao on the cap for 5 more years.
