Alright, he's legit.

He's pulling the same moves that TP does. Spain looks to be in disbelief. JCN is the only one playing.

Damn that Navarro. He won't let Spain lose. Having said that, at last he missed one.

Pero Antic is awesome. Ilievski's not bad either.

Fucking hell, Navarro has 29 at the end of the third. If it wasn't for him, Macedonia would have this in the bag.

Watching Spain makes me happy in one respect: Ibaka may be stellar on defense, but he has hands of stone. He's getting fewer minutes as the tournament goes on.

Navarro has more scoring talent than any other living player. I mean look at him: he's slow, short and unathletic. Just about every kid in your local gym could take him off the dribble (which is why he'd never get PT in the NBA). But he just cannot be stopped.

Spain wins. Yawn. Here's hoping Russia can repeat the upset they pulled a few years back. But I don't think so: the Gasol twins are just brutal and if Navarro's on like today...

Kirilenko and Khryapa sandwich Nic and hammer him down as he goes in for the dunk. 2fts.

WHOOOAAA what a play! Nic takes AK off the dribble for a two handed slam!

Thanks for the links! I finally got one to work, Nic just jammed, and announcer said Batum is the MVP of this game.

His best game yet.

19pts, 6/8FG, 7rebs, 4asts, 2blks (shoulda been 3 on that swat he just had in the fast break but refs thought otherwise), 1 stl in 34 mins.

Glowing game summary write up of Batum on the Eurobasket website.

GAME REPORT

Les Bleus Write History To Reach Final

Turning Point: With the game tied 45-45 during the third quarter, France made a decisive 8-0 run from which Russia were never able to recover.

Game Hero: While Tony Parker has enjoyed better nights percentage-wise, his influence especially in crunch time was always likely to be significant. But, even he was overshadowed by Nicolas Batum who was outstanding with an all-action line of 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks.

Stats Don't Lie: Russia was trashed 35-21 on the glass.
5. Nicolas Batum (France)
Nicolas Batum chose the EuroBasket Semi-Final to deliver a masterclass on what an all-around small forward can do on the court

France will get the chance to fight it out for the EuroBasket title with Spain after their first ever win in a Semi-Final.

....

Russia started the second quarter in style with a dunk by Semen Antonov [who names their kid Semen, even in Russian. Seriously.] but France responded with a tough play from Nicolas Batum. Moments later they found themselves 24-20 ahead with possession and an opportunity to make a move.

....

France then managed to produce a decisive 11-2 scoring spurt with Batum and Parker both converting from downtown.

....

With France scoring a solitary point in four minutes, they needed a kick start and it was Batum who provided. He made a couple of shots from downtown as France scored eight points without reply to take the initiative once more at 53-45.

....

Parker and Batum both came up with some seriously big plays in crunch time to book a very special Sunday appointment with Spain.

One thing is certain: They’ll have a player in Batum with more hops than anyone wearing an Espana jersey. And if he really wants to knock that Carter dunk down a notch in annals of French basketball history, he can take aim at Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka and see if he can do the same. From the look of his signature dunk Friday night, he might just be capable.

We all know of Nic's dunks against Gasol. But he has a history of destroying Spain with ridiculous dunks.

Check it out: is he smoking at 1:24? If so then he's EVEN MORE awesome! Brock Sampson awesome!

Nic came up huge in the last few mins.

Anyway, Russia wins against Serbia setting up an incredible semifinal with France.

I just watched it from 3 days ago. All game long, Batum would make a nice defensive move (almost always due to long arms) about every 3 minutes. I'm thinking, he's even MORE inconsistent and passive there than on the Blazers.

Then toward the end he makes a 3, then with 1:45 left in a close game he makes a difficult turnaround 10 footer, then seconds later he makes another, and his team has a comfortable margin of about 4 points and Greece has to start fouling.

15 points, but just a complementary player. Not someone you can count on. Now I'll keep reading the thread. Maybe he proved me wrong in the next game.
