It started yesterday. A lot of good players aren't there (Batum, Parker, Gobert, Teodosic, Jokic, Nowitzki, Bjelica, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gallinari, et al) but some intriguing younger players will be (notably probably top-5 pick next year, Luka Doncic, but also Dennis Schröder, Porzingis, Saric, Bender and Lauri Markkanen). As you might guess, France is weaker this year and in fact lost in OT to hosts Finland (for whom Markkanen was the star).
Results so far:
DAY ONE:
Slovenia beat Poland (Goran Dragic got 30)
Germany beat Ukraine (Schröder got 32)
Greece beat Iceland (former Blazer-to-be Printezis got 17)
Georgia upset Lithuania (Kuzmingas got 18)
Finland upset France (Makkanen got 22)
Italy crushed Israel (Casspi and Bellinelli both got 18)
DAY TWO:
Belgium beat GB (sob)
Croatia beat Hungary (BoJan Bogdanovic (the Wiz one) got 23)
Serbia beat Latvia (BoGDan Bogdanovic (Suns have rights) got 30, Porzingis 18)
Spain beat Montenegro (Sergio got 10 assists and Rubio 5 steal both in about 20 mins, W. Hernangomez led Spain in scoring)
Couple more games to come.
