Heard it is good. I'm tempted to try some today.

I Googled this place near my house. Looks pretty good.......and inexpensive, as well!

I have friends that swear by it. I've tried it once. It's basically just soup. Didn't blow my mind, but like I said, lots of people love it.

I love it. There is a place in E.Vancouver that is good. It's on Mill Plain in a little strip mall w/ Papa Murphy's... on the south side of Mill Plain.

Same place as my link?

OTOH, you must be talking about this place. Appears to be under new management, so I'm a bit incredulous?

Ya, I think that's it. It changed management about a year ago and its better now than it was before the change.

Looks pretty tasty. I have been pretty happy with Pho Van over the years, no problems.

just a heads up, it is pronounced somewhere between fa and fuh

I was introduced to Pho back in DC. Where I used to live--Clarendon--was where a large group of Vietnamese settled after the war. They had all moved out to Falls Church, but the restaurants remained. There's good Pho and bad Pho. It's more than a noodle soup with some thin strips of meat; when done right it's a taste explosion.

Pho is "ok", I like the rare beef....I add some lime and some of the peppers in there.

I prefer Ramen over Pho though, I find it much tastier.

I like other vietnamese food much better than Pho...but if I'm sick I'll have some.

I tend to like the non-pho offerings at Vietnamese places better, but it's not bad.

I'd suggest the noodles with beef and veggies, which is pretty much pho but without the broth.

Yup, the Bun (vermicelli) dishes are great, esp. when you put the fish sauce on top..... mint!

Neat story

There's a funny place over in Vancouver, Canada.... oh yeah

Pho Bich Nga. haha

There's a filipino dish which is a pork blood stew...called Dinugunan...its actually quite tasty.

I've always wanted to try the Vietnamese 7-beef course...just 7 different preparations of beef..

What's really good is Bahn Mi, Vietnamese sandwhiches....they are ultra cheap (like $1.50) and tasty and filling. beat the SHIT out of Subway or whatever.

Also, Vietnamese drip coffee is probably some of the best in the world....they have it drip into condensed milk which is just awesome.

What kind of banh mi? My fav is the "xa xiu" flavor. I'd still prefer a good, greasy, hamburger over banh mi. Too much Vietnamese food for me.

not sure, the problem is that none of the stores are near me really....just like the ones with the minty vegetables in it and some basic meats.....pretty refreshing. there's a Vietnamese Bahn Mi food truck driving around but haven't checked it out. I have them spordaically....if anything but they're pretty good. I heard there's a spot in Beaverton now...kind of weird.

But yeah, Hamburgers kick ass...well, except for fast food burgers, don't really like eating those...

Ever had nuoc mia? You might like that as well. It is sugar cane juice. Damn, I miss them.

Nope....I'll try that next time I get some authetntic Vietnamese food. Most of the Pho shops around me are pretty vanilla, but I do hit up little saigon every once in a while in Orange County, CA. Problem is most of them, I can't even understand the menus, they're pretty hardcore.

I think the big chains here are Mr. Lee's and another one....

I had some vietnamese food the other week....there was some udon-type noodles and a thicker sauce, topped with crabmeat....they have several types of noodle soups....

It seems a lot of people sort of limit vietnamese food to Pho....just kind of odd...its really really popular, maybe since its relatively easy to make I assume? It just seems so versatile as a cuisine, I loved the Bourdain episode of "A Cook's Tour" when he went down the Mekong Delta.

I liked that place where they had the flying claypots of rice....that looked cool. I had a claypot the other week, it wasn't cracked though, they cooked chicken in it.

damn, I'm going to have to hit up and explore this shit more.

I'm not from Oregon, but are there not a lot of Pho places in Oregon?

I'm in SoCal, and my gf lives in Garden Grove/Westminster, which is where Little Saigon and pretty much anything and everything Vietnamese is at.

If you wanna try something non-Pho, I love Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong. It's great with fish sauce that is spicy. If you guys come down here, theres a place called Brodards that make some of the best Nem Nuong I've ever eaten. So if yall come down, just let me know :)
