Politics Ever since Trump became president...

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Well Further my friend we never did see eye to eye, but we could discuss a few things. Now a whole damn bunch of you are willing to post the shit like I just quoted for you. and not a one of you have been harmed by Trump so it is difficult to image how posting negatives about the man serves anyone. When I post about the actual harm Obama did to me and my wife and millions of people like us, it is real. Real even if you guys are like river and rest of you, claim he did no harm, it was the Company that did it. Well fuck, how damn brilliant! Make it legal for the company and encourage them, then you claim he's clean. Fuck! That is ignorant.

But, I bet you fellas could just have a wonderful time educating each other, exchanging your like minds in a safe place, shelter from us deplorables, that like that brute, Trump.
Just think on it. You could be free to disgust each other endlessly, without retaliation, time after time. Geez man, damn near nirvana.
MarAzul, you are correct, we just don't see eye to eye on political issues. But I love your naval threads and much of the rest of your input. I even appreciate your political input, I just think you are very wrong. I have not discussed my family history here with Trump but feel free to google Johnathon Benanav who was my uncle and died working for Trump 28 years back. There was much said and done in the aftermath of that helicopter crash by Trump that was abhorrent and cost our family honor and fortune.
However today, I do see Trumps actions as having a much more pervasive and long lasting effect than you losing insurance. And if Trump had his way, 22 million more people would lose their insurance. So, none of the options are great, but I see Trump as being horrendous. But the part about me thinking Trump is a horrible person, that comes from his actions as a cheat, a scoundrel and a liar. He has done many things I would never imagine you would do because you have pride in your self.

But, all this is neither here nor there, because it gets to the point I was making, I am never going to change your view and you will never change mine on this topic. So cheers, and keep sailing and posting about all things seafaring.

When you are harmed in some way that you think it exceeds the harm you must know that I feel was done to my wife and I in losing the healthcare which was compensation for 35 years of work,
please point it out explicitly. I expect it will be a disaster for many more than just you. But make sure we all see it.

I do feel bad for you and your wife, but when you say that it is a disaster for many more, the numbers don't back that up. Sure, individually there are plenty of instances, but far more people are covered today than before. But I do understand, that to the individual, that is of little comfort. I was on the other side of that coin.

Wow! it is not an individual thing. It was millions of people that were fucked! They were screwed by the people in power. People that were screw who had done the right thing for themselves, people the government have no right to screw. You can't say more people were served by the action than were screwed and call that justifiable.
Well maybe you can. I see river likes your shit so perhaps you guys can justify it and feel good.

I see nothing in the Constitutions that gives the federal government to power to fuck with my health insurance nor my compensation from my employer, or yours for that matter.

I am not a constitutional lawyer. But the supreme Court Justices are.

If you can't see the harm done, I am done trying to explain
telling someone that IS harm done....no one required an explanation....negativity to a forum member is negativity...own it

Translation. If you can't see the harm done, I am done trying to explain.
That's back to the topic of this thread, we just don't come close to seeing eye to eye. Some of your beliefs baffle me. And mine baffle you. It's not stubbornness or disrespect, it's that we truly are seeing this world through very different lenses. (mine or clear and yours are sooty. kidding).

Good luck MarAzul, I hope we get rid of insurance all together and replace it with universal healthcare. Then you can have yours, I can have mine, barfo can have his and Denny and complain about Hillary. See you in the non-political threads.

Well you see, I can never understand how you guys see good in this move. It is beyond me. Now go fuck yourself.
I bought my first home in 2006. The market tanked due to Bush policies and did real harm to me and my family. Obama actually helped fix the market so I could sell my house finally last year.

God dammit, you're making us conservatives look bad. Keep your shit together man.

I agree to a point that this forum has gone downhill since the election. But even leading up to it, this place was pretty toxic with everyone at each other's throats about political issues. Even I admit guilt to that.

I eventually just stopped posting in political threads in the OT because it's pretty exhausting arguing with someone who's opinion of Trump isn't going to change mine, and I'm not going to change theirs. I just roll my eyes and click the "back" button and go to something else. I would like to try and have a civil relationship with fellow Blazer fans on here, and if that means avoiding political threads, then it's a very small price for me to pay. Because for every person here than doesn't like Trump, I also have to accept that there are millions more outside of this forum that don't like him either. So, as a Trump supporter, I've learned to just roll with it.

It's not always easy to avoid an argument if you feel strongly about the topic. But if you want to have a civil, even friendly relationship with others, then sometimes it is very necessary.

Mind you, I would like to come to the OT more often. But damn, it's pretty toxic when political threads come up.

I have yet to see anyone attack or insult anyone who is a Trump fan. The closest we've had is me calling Denny, DennyAnne Craneway. (Which for the record Denny says is a personal insult. I don't agree but oh well.)

You on the other hand do push the limit in insults in your defense of Trump.

When you and Denny have come out in support of Trump I see lots of conversations and replies to your posts.

Wow. Then you obviously haven't been paying attention Sly. I can name two or three people off the top of my head who have flat out insulted Trump supporters. And to keep this topic civil, I'm choosing not to name them.

Yeah, well this site is ran a little better than most other sites I frequent. Also, I probably have a different view of civil than most others. For me it's not just cussing and name calling. When all a person can do is throw crap your way like an ape in a zoo, I don't see this as being a civil conversation. It's more angry and hate filled imo.

My policy is that if I'm going to either straight up insult someone, or use language that implies it, then I better damn well have my arguing points and arguments in order. Otherwise, it does nothing for the argument itself, and I win no points; bitter or otherwise.

I had a real problem with this when I joined this forum. This was a policy that I had to learn and practice, and I'm still far from perfect on it.

I've actually found more joy recently hanging out in the main forum than I have clicking on the OT. The Nurk threads there are my favorites. It's funny how you may disagree vehemently about politics with members here, but when you click on a Nurk thread, we all fawn and gush over him like children. LOL, I love that. It shows everyone that we're all just humans after all.

This is your best post. Well said sir. I employ the same tactics for the most part. I'm here to have fun. The two of us don't agree on political issues, but, so fucking what. We both think Nurk is a majestic beast.

Politics has a lot of similarities to sports.

Two teams competing against one another. The polls are the score.

Like with sports, there is season long drama (will LMA stay or go?).

It's a combat sport, and both sides fight dirty. MMA.

You are definitely correct that both sides fight dirty. Jesus....politics is just.....evil. A necessary evil, but an evil nonetheless.

I've often wondered if I would ever go into politics. But besides the fact that I have absolutely no financial backing whatsoever, is the fact that politics does ugly things to people. And I don't know if I could stomach that part.

This is a one of the classical difference between the Conservative and the Progressive. Probably the greatest and most effective barrier to discussion that exists.
I think it is accurate to say, the Progressive generally agree with Woodrow Wilson;

"Woodrow Wilson argued that the separation of powers established by the Constitution prevented truly democratic government."

Therefore when any discussion that involves issues where the Constitutions is a factor, they tend to ignore the Constitution or profess the inability of the common man to understand it.
Only a properly stacked court can interpret the arcane historical document. In Further's case, a mere PHd can't be expected to read it and a lowly conservative certainly is out of his league.

There you have it! The top of the chain in the rule of law, will not be accepted as a basis for a begin point in any discussion. This generates distrust before any discussion even can begin as it demonstrates, we have no common begin point.

This is my biggest complaint about govt...long drawn out elections that are built for TV and not a fair playing field ....no parity...I would like a 6 week long election campaign and a vote but they should probably spend a year vetting all candidates so when elected...they can perform. I also like it if candidates were required to have certain skillsets that are important to the job. Should be harder to run for president than it is to get a marriage license. Bipartisan govt is like a two judge boxing match...seriously the job needs to start attracting talent

I am pleased with the election. We have a President the won way more than the majority of electoral votes. We all should be happy we have a documented process that works.

Clinton relaxed lending standards which caused the housing crisis.

Bush started the TARP programs and bailouts that "fixed the market".

Trump derangement syndrome has affected both sides.
He's never groped me....TDS would require contact with him....a deranged Trump is not a pretty sight....mags however, shook his tiny hand once if I remember correctly

Sorry MarAzul, but I was trying to cleverly point out that you saying something is unconstitutional right after the Supreme Court ruled on it degrades your opinion
