I think that's fair, but he's also simply recounting what someone else told him happened 60 years earlier. It's not like a birth certificate or a death certificate, a guilty finding in the legal record, a painting of him where he sat in front of a known artist who lived at the same time, etc.

I might potentially agree with you, MARIS, had I thought this was some sort of whim or "crutch". However, as I had mentioned, I've had confirming power upon confirming power over the course of well over 20 years which continues to affirm my faith. In that period of time, my life has taken many twists and turns, highs and lows. Through it all, God/Jesus has been my rock and my strength....my joy and my sustainer.......my co-pilot, as it were. It's a beautiful thing, man.

Shit happens. We have ups and downs, challenges and defeats and successes.

That's life, and why it's great to be alive.

A good friend of mine who is very religious asked me about, 15 years ago when I was dealing with some hurdles in life, if I ever stopped to think it was because I denied the existence of god. I said no, I like challenges in my life. Without them life would be dull and dreary.

Well, wouldn't you know it, he ended up facing most of the hurdles I did and even ran up against some far worse ones.

Mythical super-beings don't guide my life. I do.

When I was very young and and studying religion (before I knew for certain god was a myth), I made up my mind fairly quickly that if he was real he was an evil entity that needed to be destroyed. The horrors and sins and crimes against the Earth attributed to him are inexusable IMO. No human being in history can be held up as a comparably evil entity.

Good thing he isn't real.

I discount their words. If they show me pictures of artifacts and tell me they're carbon dated to within Jesus' supposed lifetime, his tomb with his name inscribed and proven done at the time he died, and those sorts of things, I'd find it reasonable.
