Our evil insurance company won an award for our new office building in Bend due to its environmental awareness.
Bend goes for – and gets – the gold!
October 26, 2010
Great news this week from our colleagues in Central Oregon. Their stunning new home just received its highly coveted LEED Gold Status from the Green Building Certification Institute.
(LEED stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.)
If you haven't yet had a chance to see it, our office – known as 360 Bond – is a stunning building, lovingly crafted and meticulously executed, with a signature eco-roof of high desert native plants from central Oregon. It also boasts innovative exterior sun shades that help both heat and cool the building through the seasons. Other notable characteristics include:
Zero increase in storm water rate from predevelopment conditions.
26% reduction in energy use and cost savings
32% potable water savings in the building
35% of the building materials value is recycled content.
50% reduction in water use for site landscaping
70% of its electricity is offset with renewable energy certificates
And a whopping 99% of the building's lumber is from trees certified by the Forest Stewardship Council
Be sure to drop by and visit the next time you're traveling in the area. And feel proud that you work for a company who, when it comes time to build a new building, makes the commitment to do it right.
