Aminu always had a better +/- than his stat line would usually suggest, and that continues. The others are either on the best team in the league (Clips) or on teams that are doing surprisingly well (Miami and Atlanta), so I think they'll be all right. I think ET's strength is off court (this sounds like a jab but it really isn't) in helping to make a team more like a family. I bet Trae Young loves him already.

Unlikely. But he will probably be on a much more reasonable contract, I suppose.

He is a super athletic 7 footer who can shoot from the 3. These guys do not grow on trees - and he is well worth a minimum / minimum+ contract.
He's not super athletic. (Compared to other NBA players, obviously)

He doesn't jump very high and he's not quick. No fluidity to any of his movements either. He also doesn't really play with much strength, regardless of how muscular he looks.

Which makes his nickname even funnier. I’ve seen him get boxed out by guards. He has no functional strength. Also no lateral quickness. He can jump pretty high though, but maybe that’s an illusion as well.

For a center he is pretty athletic. Here are some combine results for centers from recent years:

PLAYER, POS, LANE AGILITY TIME , SHUTTLE RUN, THREE QUARTER SPRINT, STANDING VERTICAL LEAP, MAX VERTICAL LEAP, MAX BENCH PRESS
Steven Adams C 11.85 3.02 3.40 28.5 33.0 16
Rudy Gobert C 12.85 3.19 3.57 25.0 29.0 7
Meyers Leonard C 11.34 - 3.41 30.0 32.5 19
Jarrett Allen C 11.82 3.00 3.21 31.5 35.5 4
Moses Brown C 11.95 3.30 3.51 27.0 31.0 -
DeAndre Jordan C 12.30 - 3.27 26.0 30.5 8
D.Cousins C 11.40 - 3.55 23.5 27.5 -
H. Whiteside C-PF 11.83 - 3.54 27.0 31.5 12

I would agree that he is not fluid on the basketball court, but he sure is agile and fast for a center in the raw "athletic" measures.

At the end of the day - I still believe he will be in the league for a while, he is athletic, he can shoot the 3, he is not a problem teammate. Someone will pay him, even if it will be a minimum.

Damn looking at that chart, Moses really is a young Whiteside.

Against the HOU Rockets, Meyers scored 21 points in the 129-100 blowout. Meyers has made 7 of 11 (63.6%) of his swish3 attempts and has a TS% of 69.9 for the first 5 games. Steve Kerr's NBA record is 45.4% for swish3s. Will there be a Blazer this year who can equal the 45% swish3 accuracy that we saw last year from Meyers? And will Meyers exceed that 45% record for the 2019-2020 season?

Kerr and Korver have both shot over 50% for a season

It's kind of fun watching the Bucks this year even aside from the Greek Freak. Pat Connaughton, Wes Matthews and Robin Lopez all on the same team. They're all pretty minor role players, but it's nice to see them out there still hustling.

Hi, Elle!

Wouldn’t even call their roles minor. Bucks rely on their depth a lot so Connaughton and Lopez are important and Matthews is actually a starter I think. Super fun team I agree.

Kanter -- 4-1

Layman -- 4-1
Moe -- 5-2

Aminu - 4.2 pts, 6.5 rebs and almost a block in ~24 mpg. Shooting .50% from '3' but 17% from '2'. Still can't score.
Curry - 9.3 pts and 1.8 assts in 22 mpg. .423 from '3'. Shooting a higher volume from '3' so far.
Harkless - 5.6 pts, 3 rebs in ~21 mpg. Shooting 33% from '3' and 64% from '2'. Rotation player on a loaded team.
Kanter - 12 pts and 6 rebs in 1 game for the Celtics.
Layman - 9.6 pts, 2.4 rebs and almost a block per game in ~25 mpg. Shooting 40% from '3'. Solid rotation player.
Leonard - 8.8 pts, 5.7 rebs and 1 block in ~22 mpg. Shooting 62% from '3' and 65% from '2'. Blocks WAY up but still lost on 'D'.
Turner - 4 pts, 1 reb and 2.3 assts in 11 mpg in 3 games. Hasn't hit a '3'. Just no playing much.

As of the 1st 10 games, Meyers leads the NBA in 2 categories, 3P% and TS%. For swish3s, Meyers is 64.7% and 72.9% for TS%.

It makes sense for the NBA leading swish3 shooter to attempt at least 6 per game. Remembering the 5 of 6 and 10 of 12 in WCF against GSW, I wonder why Eric Spoelstra isn't calling on Meyers for 6-12 swish3 attempts per game. In their last game, Meyers attempted none.

The Heat are worth watching this year. Will they be strong enough to beat the Celtics?
