Ex-Blazers around the league

I think sometimes a change of scenery and coaching is what is needed to bump a player. To me it seemed he generally did not click when put in the game but glad to see he is having success in a different environment.
When you aren't a good team, you should be playing your young guys to see what they can do.

Instead, this team seems eager to play veterans who aren't good enough to matter and calling it a day.

in the last 4 games, Grant (turns 33 next season), Holiday (36 next season), & Timelord (unrestricted free agent) have combined to average 56 points, 17 rebounds, 11 assists. Blazers averaged 116 points over those 4 games. So those 3 vets combined for 48% of Portland's points. Kind of looks like Cronin sold his soul for "winning time now" and the team is totally focused on making the play-in no matter what

CJ McCollum leading scorer today (30 points, 10-18, 7-10 on threes) in Atlanta's 9th win in a row, 122-99, over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 9-game win streak is the longest for the Hawks in over a decade (since the 2014-15 season).

Way to go CJ! Glad you were able to get out of that train wreck in DC in less than a season, into a much better situation.

After a bit of a rough start, CJ's really settled in with the Hawks and they're on a roll. Good for him for landing on a good team after the purgatory of New Orleans.

Sidenote: Atlanta's FO has definitely had the best year of any FO. What with fleecing NO for their possible #1 pick and picking up Alexander-Walker and the resurgent Kuminga for peanuts, along with Johnson become a statistical monster, they're looking great. Shame they have no fans, really.

Hawks clinch a playoff spot and Southeast Division behind 29 points from McCollum in rout of Cavs

ATLANTA -- — CJ McCollum scored 29 points and the Atlanta Hawks used a big third quarter to blow out the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-102 on Friday night, clinching a playoff spot and the Southeast Division title.

The Hawks had not won the Southeast Division since 2021, when they ultimately advanced to the Eastern Conference finals. They have been in the play-in tournament the last four seasons.

Somewhere there’s a Former Celtics Players thread on some forum lamenting how much value we’re getting out of Timelord, a Former Wizards Players thread mad that they traded Deni, a Former Subs Players thread wondering if Toumani counts as a Sun or not, and whether he would have become the new Tom Chambers or whatever. We gain players and we lose players. It’s just a game.

Said it when the trade happened, and I’ll say it again - The CJ trade was a major steal for the Hawks. Got rid of that bum Trae Young and brought in a proven vet in CJ.

I like to know how ex Blazers are doing. Except when Dame was in Milwaukee. I didn't watch one single game with Dame in a Bucks uniform. I just couldn't.

I drove my family down to Sacramento to watch the Kings play the Bucks so we could see Dame. Not only did he not play, I don’t think he was even in the building.

I just saw that Rupes messed around and got a triple double 4/5 vs The Bucks with 33/10/10

Shot 16 free throws.

I understand our parting with him, but I still think he’s got some solid upside if he can find consistent minutes.

I don't think he'll ever be a starter but I do think he'll have a better NBA career than Yang...

Listening to this Warriors Clippers game on league pass, warriors radio.

Sounds like Ezeli is doing media work with the Warriors for NBC Sports Bay Area.

Ezeli was huge for them in their championship success. Wish we had him when he was balling out like that.

Not really news but saw article on Facebook about Billy Ray Bates he was one my favorite Blazers.

People keep asking for more Billy Ray stories. I will tell you how our team first really met Billy Ray. We had first got a look at him in the Garden in New York , he was being drilled by Jack Ramsey. Jack had him doing some very difficult drills but we didn’t know who he was ? But it didn’t seem like he was getting tired at all . But we didn’t think much about it . So our next game was in Detroit. We were staying in a hotel that had an open view elevator. So all of us were eating lunch in the cafe. And we see Billy get in the elevator, 10 minutes later he is still going up and down on it . So Calvin says to Ron Brewer go get that boy . So Ron goes and gets him and invited him to have lunch with us. So when he sat down we ask him why were you on the elevator so long. His response was I have never been on an elevator that you could see out so I was just enjoying the ride . But we said 20 minutes 😊. So he sits down and we buy him lunch . First you have to realize that Billy comes from the very poor area in the south. He was not well educated or exposed to the better life. He saw Mychal eating shrimp 🦐 and he asked what he was eating and Mychal said shrimp. Billy says I have never had those. He had a few and from that point on he called them swimps 😄. But when we got to Chicago the next day we had never seen him play in a game . When the first time Jack put him in the game he got a break away and Artist Gilmore was waiting for him . Billy took off with the most thunderous dunk that was so spectacular it brought everyone to their feet in the stadium . From that moment on we all knew that he was a Black Superman . One on the greatest athletes I ever seen or played with 🏀
