I liked Solarte, don't think he was give time to make the needed adjustments after his hot start into chill. Happens to a rook. Yep dumb move to let him go. Kid had class took out an ad thanking the Yankees & fans for the opportunity, sure wish he was a Yankee. Nunez good stick but I thought he had an iron glove. That may have been attributed to the fact he wasn't going to get a hell of a lot of playing time with Mr. Yankee and the Chemist on board.

...just going from memory, I seem to remember that while with the Yanx most of Nunez's errors were throwing errors but hell, they had him playing multiple positions he was not real familiar with, which tells me it was probably more mechanical than anything else...he seemed to make the hard plays look easy and turned the easy plays into an adventure.
... Some players can adjust to different positions better than others and the Twins are using him all over the field too but he just seems more comfortable in Minnesota.

I'd have to say that young players coming to the Yankees since the '10 season could have been on the unrelaxed state wondering weather they'd be staying or going. When I first became a fan the players were brought in young, then were phased out when the got a bit long in the tooth. There were some exceptions like Mickey and Yogi men who had consistent ability. Todays Yankees buy them over the hill, and when riding the sick books the youngies get up for a cup of coffee. That has to change. Going to be very interesting to see what kind of deals are made this summer. I'd be very surprised if Cashman were able to get some good returns.

Nunez has always had good offensive skills. Great speed strong throwing arm, excellent SB threat and he DID hit when he played for the Yanks.
I felt at the time he was better suited as an o.f. with his speed and arm and the Yanks should've given him a longer look as an o.f.
He played 8 games there for the Yanks and looked shaky albeit errorless.

If we remember, he had almost become a "joke" as a SS/3b with some people suggesting the fans sitting behind first base should be issued helmuts. Darn shame he didn't or wasn't allowed to work it out as a Yankee.

So where are we, fill me in.
Were we saying at the time the Yanks shouldn't have traded him or should they have gotten more in return?

I also liked Solarte, the kid did a good job for the Yanks- 252 AB, .254/.718, 6 HR, 31 RBI -goodness knows he's been a much better player than Headley...and much more inexpensive.
My gosh, he currently has a .909 OPS!....he's batting .288 with 146 AB when he isn't playing the Yanks.

Just saw our old buddy Shane Greene strike out Encarnation 6th inning bases loaded to preserve a 3-2 Detroit led. Second bases loaded jam Verlander had started this evening.

Our old buddy has already given up a run in that game working on 4.94 ERA 1.15 WHIP and has a 6.32 ERA 1.44 WHIP since he was traded for Didi.
Still a young pitcher maybe he's coming along since being banished to the bullpen.
Speaking of Didi he's now batting .296 with 10 HRs 39 RBI .297 w/risp, not bad for an 'average' SS but he's still learning in his 2nd full season.
