Self explanatory title, what do you all think about using drugs?

Think weed should be legal? Do you think making it legal would be a stepping stone for pills or coke to become legal?

Any funny stories?

Weed should be legal. If it's legal to kill your brain cells, liver with alcohol, then legalize weed, which is actually less harmful overall. You ask anyone who has been through drug rehab for drugs harder than weed, they will all tell you that alcohol is the gateway drug for *everyone*, not just the people who smoke weed. There are people who have done cocaine that have never done weed. They try to tag weed with a *gateway drug* label because they are havig a hard time convincing the public and the government that it should remain illegal. California is very lenient on weed offenses, and you will not geta felony on your record for simple possession. There is enough support right now for weed legalization that it could work, and cause no additional harm to society. Legalizing weed, and other drugs for that matter, also takes away criminal profit, violence, and tax evasion. The money made from weed sales goes to legitimate businesses, creates a new sales tax for government revenue, and takes away money from organized crime.

Here is one that no one ever brings up. Compare drunk groups to stoned groups. Parties of stoned people tend to be well behaved, not violent, and don't get nearly as loud as a bunch of drunk people. If you were ever an usher or security at a sporting event or concert, you know that your hands are full when the crowd is completely drunk. If they are all stoned, they are no problem whatsoever. Advantage = weed.

Yea but weed does more damage to the body and brain then alcohol. Proven fact. You go from weed to cocaine. From alcohol you go nowhere, you'll just stay drunk.

Say no to weed or any other drugs, they were made to destroy us. (by govt of course)

I'm not for adding any new legal drugs and would like to see people take alcohol consumption more seriously. Of course, that may be because I work with the homeless. Want a funny story? A few weeks ago, I called EMS for a lady who came into our dayshelter and passed out drunk in the ladies bathroom. Her boyfriend, who is also homeless, told me later that they nearly lost her in the ambulance. He hopes it has scared her enough to get her to seek recovery. Want another funny story? On a regular basis, I have to try and deal with guys that have gotten so drunk that they arelying and sleepingin their urine and feces coverd clothing. I'm not trying to equate homelessness with drug and alcohol use because there is a segment of the population who have other reasons for becoming homeless, but it is a huge problem. Personally, I choose not to use any drug that my doctor hasn't prescribed for me and I don't drink alcohol. I don't find that I missing anything. Not having to schedule time for 12 step meetings leaves me a lot more time for watching football.

Weak souls will always exist no matter how much protection the government attempts to blanket us in.

I work at the Beer Store (the only place to buy beer in Ontario) and I'm sure I see a lot of the same stuff you do DD.

For instance I can name the first five or six orders I will get in a day, of the 400+ customers I see in a day, half are 'regulars'.

I've got a guy who will tell me everyday how he can't afford the basics of life, yet he never goes without his beer.

They try to make go to rehab I say, no, no, no!

ya, all drugs are bad. but alcohol's just too damn fun not to drink.

Saying marijuana leads to cocaine is stupid. There's no such thing as a gateway drug.

Don't you think it might cost you more out of your wallet if your favourite drug was to be legalized? I could be wrong.

I dont see a lot of difference between drinking alcohol and smoking weed, so I agree with RotR on that. But, i think they both should be illegal.

I don't do drugs, and never will. I don't drink alcohol, and I doubt I ever will.

Normally, I'd make some witty reply, but seriously, the reason I'm opposed to alcohol is I've had some family members with addictions and what not. So I'm not a big fan of the stuff.

And doing drugs is just stupid.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

Actually, alcohol does more damage to the body than weed. Proven fact. Also, you will never overdose on weed. People die every year from alcohol poisoning, drunk drivers, and homicides while someone was under the influence of alcohol. Domestic violence, rape, date rape, need we continue? It's true a person could conceivably go from weed to cocaine, but there is no relation between them *other than* the fact that they are bought and sold in the same illicit market as each other. In other words, if the weed dealer was the local tobacco shop and not being sold on the side by the local crack dealer, then that theory dissolves.

Alcohol is the gateway drug in our society. All drug use, whether it be illicit or not, was preempted by alcohol use. Weed is medicine, and a mild recreational drug.

CK, you should never use weed. You seem like the kind of person who would not be able to handle it, and would likely blame a cocaine addiction on it. Good luck staying out of trouble.

You should have the right to make that choice. What is good for you is not necessarily what is good for other adults. They should outlaw fried foods, and anything else that drives up health care costs. Should we go to such great lengths to protect people from themselves? I don't think so. If you want to smoke a pack of cigarrettes a day, and eventually die from lung cancer, then that's on you. The warning labels are printed on the side of every pack that you smoke. In school, they teach kids about that, as well as the dangers of not eating properly. Personally, I like having choices, it makes life more interesting for me and others.

The main difference is peple who are not partaking of Marijuana can become slightly under the influence of it. I donlt see why teh government would not legalize marijuana, they'd proabbly tax teh shit out of it and make it unaffordable just like everything thing else in life. NOTE: I personally do not support marijuana use nor have I ever had any.
