Bynums injury was the catalyst for the Pau trade. Much less of a chance that trade happens if Bynum is healthy

edit: of course they are better with both, thats obvious. I just dont think the Lakers would have tried so hard to make a move if Bynum was healthy

Yes, tied for it, as I recall. And with Pau and not Bynum, they won the top seed by one game.

That's rather a difference from being 6 games out ahead of the second seed and seen as largely uncatchable (until this injury). So, the point is not that LA needed Pau to be really good. Even with a healthy Bynum they need Pau to be such a big favourite in the West. That was my point.
