i have been proposing 3 + Ant for Pascal + pick deals for a while, no?

regardless, i was more upset about our inactivity with 23, Ant, or those 5 seconds, or the flexibility that we were promised to be used for better positional fits. we did.... nothing. we simply picked BPA with our picks in consecutive drafts. we gave up a veteran in Hart who actually was useful on the floor for another pick. we wasted our MLE on a guy who didn't want to be here.

there's plenty to blame Joe for outside of any potential trades with 3.

Don’t think anything without Shaedon or Scoot was going to get us anything more than a RoCo/Nance level non difference maker, but we can disagree on that.

Yeah. At what point does Cronin look at dame and say "Well they tried but MIami simply doesn't think you are worth trading for?
At some point this isn't even on Joe? If i was Lillard I would expect the team to pay for my value as well.

Makes me wonder one other thing:

If Dame was questioning the Blazers commitment to winning since 2021, why didn't he have a trade clause put into his contract extension like Beal did? Surely the Blazers would have complied -- they bent over backwards for him in every other way. He would have had all the leverage. It's almost standard these days. Just bizarre there wasn't a clause in there. It makes you think Dame really wasn't thinking trade at all at the time he signed the new deal, and then it makes you wonder what made him do such a 180 between the signing and yesterday, because, as far as I can tell, nothing else changed.

Supposedly they are not available. They are considered the Heats future much like Sharpe and Scoot are for the Blazers.

If I was Miami I would say the same thing in order to build up their value. But since they do not have anything else to offer, I am pretty sure that they both would be included.

My question and I don't know the answer is how much better for the Blazers are Claxton/ Clowney vs Jovic/Jaquez. We know the Nets also have more picks to offer, but for now, let's just debate these 4 players.

Offensively I would give the edge to Miami's young players, but defensively the two Nets players are much better. I would like to hear from those who have been touting Jovic for a while.

They drafted his replacement last week.

It is not almost standard. I believe Beal is the only one with a no trade clause in the NBA currently. Some have trade kickers but that only means team sending player out pays them a bonus.

Wow. I didn't know that (obviously). Thanks for the information and correcting that.

Claxton allows you to move off Nurk.

pretty sure that wouldn't be legal. It was an extension of the existing contract, not a completely new contract

Agree. No doubt the Nets are the better option for that reason. But Jovic just turned 20 and I wonder how good he will be in another 2 years when he adds some weight. He looks to have great instincts. Could he be a future star in a position of need? Having said that I think Clowney has a lot of potential as well. I really want Claxton and Clowney.

Out of all the young guys being offered Sochan is my favorite, followed by Claxton.

Was talking this thru with the wife last night after she saw how distraught i was.

How wrong would it be for me to become a Miami fan? Until we have a new owner, I think supporting Jodys team is wrong.
I think you should do what makes you happy.

Not even close IMO.
Claxton >> Jovic
Clowney >> Jaquez

If that's what makes you happy...

I'm all for say saying F Miami. I don't like anything about FloriDUH.

I love this headline:

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but "we're definitely not going to offer the only players that any team would want" is not really "all-in". And this is AFTER they lost two starters to free agency. It's a bit like saying a G-League team is "all-in" on getting Dame.

Tyler Herro and Caleb Martin aren't G-League... they are legit starters in the NBA. I think Jovic and Jaquez are good prospects. I like Orlando Robinson as a young backup big but he might be a little G-League-ish. They'd have to send both of their available future firsts.

I would want Herro and Martin rerouted to a third team who had high value on them and that could be the Nets. If the Nets valued Herro and Martin enough and maybe they wouldn't mind Nurk either, then they might give up Claxton, the rights to Clowney and Whitehead and Dinwiddie for salary purposes along with two future firsts.

I think Dame and Nurk for a return of Claxton, Jovic, Jaquez, Clowney, Whitehead, Orlando Robinson and 4 FRPs while only having to take on the expiring contract of Dinwiddie that we might be able to flip is a great return. There is a possibility that the Nets wouldn't value those assets like that though and then you'd be in a bad position. I mean even if it's only 3 future FRPs it's still a pretty good haul.

I would keep Martin. We need a few vets man. It's bad if the whole team is young. Martin was in the Heat culture. I think we need some people who have experienced wins.

2 days removed. i've come to my senses.

fuck miami.

i'll still be a dame fan and wish him well but my loyalties lie with my franchise and my hometown no matter how inept they are. just wish jody would sell the team so i can finally get some hope.
