Half of the forum would have accepted the deal if Jaquez was in it. Everybody knew he was ready for play.

Wow, that's just 2020 hindsight bullshit.Half of the forum would have accepted the deal if Jaquez was in it. Everybody knew he was ready for play.
Not to be That Guy, but how do you know? It was never revealed by either side exactly what the Heat's offer was. All we got was media speculation. But, he was never in the deal. The point is moot.
Agreed. Not to be That Guy, but how do you know? It was never revealed by either side exactly what the Heat's offer was. All we got was media speculation.
He’s THAT guy.

Is that supposed to undermine my point? I was pretty sure that the Heat DIDN'T want to trade Jaquez, but as I said, we didn't know. All that everyone seemed sure of was that Herro was part of the deal.
Again, speculation. Their offer never looked good at the time: Jaquez was unproven and Herro was a tarnished asset. It's only now that Timelord looks possibly broken beyond repair and Brunson even more fragile than we thought, and Jaquez has kicked ass throughout the season and Herro suddenly looks amazing in the playoffs that the Heat's offer looks a lot better. If they would have put their best offer forward without playing games, including Jaquez, Portland likely would have taken it.
Keeping Jrue wouldn't have made any sense at all, IMO.Again, speculation. Their offer never looked good at the time: Jaquez was unproven and Herro was a tarnished asset. Actually I think our BEST move would have been to hang on to Jrue Holiday. He was the best asset (other than Dame, and possibly not even him) in the whole deal. But he probably made it clear he was never going to set foot in Portland and that spooked Cronin.
Wow, that's just 2020 hindsight bullshit.
I noticed Barry Jackson having a meltdown on Twitter over Dame not getting traded to the Heat (yes, after the whole season) and Cronin getting more votes for Exec of the Year than Pat Riley.
Then I noticed Aaron Fentress tweeted something four days ago to suggest the Heat offered the better deal ... and it only had 405 views and zero engagements.

The Heat fans are in total meltdown mode right now on twitter

If Miami had really offered everything (Herro, 2 unprotected firsts, 2 unprotected swaps, Jaquez, Jovic) then maybe there is an argument the Blazers could've been better off with that.
However sounds like Miami didn't want to offer all of that, they just wanted to steal Dame at a discount.
I still love controlling those 3 years of unprotected Bucks drafts, plus the unprotected Boston pick, plus we ended up with a lottery pick from the Warriors. yeah Brogdon/Timelord might not be worth as much as we hoped at the trade but all and all it was still a great haul.
Oh and fuck the Heat!
exactly. The Heat were never "all in" on Dame, not even close. WTF their idiotic fans say they were all in is beyond me. Do they know what "all in" means? Pat was tepid at best.If Miami had really offered everything (Herro, 2 unprotected firsts, 2 unprotected swaps, Jaquez, Jovic) then maybe there is an argument the Blazers could've been better off with that.

What always gets me is the Heat fans at the time Dame announced he wanted Miami were clear in saying that their team didn't have to give up nearly this package.
Now the same people are saying they offered all of this and it's a better package than what the Blazers got.
And neither of those is true.
Delusion is NOT their friend.
the Heat ahould just get wife beater Bridges. Miami fans are too loaded on Wade's rings to give a crap who's wearing a uniform.Just saw a post on X, formerly Twitter, where a couple of Heat fans were debating trying to trade for Mikal Bridges, but one of the fans said they'd be giving up too much for a "fourth option."
