You missed out on one of the most exciting world cup games in recent memory. I think you'll find that "soccer" has turned the corner in the US and will overtake (at least) Hockey before the next World Cup, if it hasn't already.

That is completely and utterly insane. These numbers are flat out stupid. Are we going to have to have another lockout?

Despite early interest in Spencer Hawes and Channing Frye, Warriors are turning their concentration toward signing a backup PG, per source.

No. It's like the olympics... the sports get a big stage, then fizzle out to obscurity. Soccer will never catch on past the niche. At least hockey had it's day in the (icelike) sun.

Golden State is closing in on an agreement to sign Shaun Livingston, ESPN has learned

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Golden State has reached an agreement with Nets free agent guard Shaun Livingston, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Bummer :sigh:

The Warriors have agreed to a three-year deal with former Nets point guard Shaun Livingston, I'm told.

Not the worst for us. I don't know if we ever had a chance. I wasn't high on him as everyone else was... I understood why, but I had my reservations. I just wanted to see a couple years of healthy before signing him, I suppose.

We'll see. The reason why I'm pretty sure you're wrong this time? The huge increase in the number of "soccer" team jerseys I see people wearing (okay, mostly Man U, Barca and Chelsea) and the fact that Americans follow the Premier League in droves.

I remember when the World Cup was held in the US and you had editorials in major newspapers about how stupid soccer was because you couldn't pick up the ball and run with it. Somehow I don't think that would fly any more. Well, Anne Coulter gave it a go...

Options and performance clauses out the wazoo, I would think.

The Warriors' deal with Shaun Livingston will be three years, $16 million, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

So that's their whole MLE.

I don't know. I just don't see it. Just because people are watching it overseas doesn't mean anything. It just makes it even more niche, IMO. I'm just not sold on it.

This makes a lot more sense if they've decided to cave on Klay-for-Kevin Love. [Edit: this guy had the same idea. And this guy.]

But then again, maybe Shaun Livingston wasn't really looking for starters minutes, wanting to rest his knees.

Unless it's a s&t, the stretch 5 is looking better and better
