LMA bolts:
Lakers -- Rumor is they are prepared to offer him 4yr/$80m deal. Lives in Orange County. I feel they are the favorites. ElPrez looses his shit.
Knicks -- They're a darkhorse - With Carmelo aging I feel Phil will try to work a s&t. Their media guys, as unrealistic as it may be, still talk LMA or Gasol.

Wesley Matthews doesn't receive an offer from the Blazers:
$15m/per and 29 years old -- wants to be more than just a 3rd option. Mutually parts ways.

RoLo walks:
Celtics -- I believe he'll be their #1 target.
Knicks -- If they strike out they'll look at RoLo as they need a center. Rumored to have interest.

Is someone really going to give Matthews 15 million? I'd like to sign him to a short term reasonable deal, just to see how he can come back. He's great at posting up and taking advantage of smaller guards. Portland should go to that more often.

Would you be satisfied if Blazers landed Matthews, Hibbert and Monroe this offseason?

That would not be a great fit offensively Neither Monroe or Hibbert can stretch the floor, so defenses could pack it in and force us to take jumpers all game.

@AmicoBasketball: Kevin Love has indicated to Cavs recently he plans to return. Cavs also hope to execute Brendan Haywood contract trade quickly after July 1. >>>>

Love is the fallback plan for LA -- They must be confident in their LMA pursuit.

Of course, there is a lot of smoke being blown until July 1st.

So... Dallas and San Antonio get nothing? Houston too? I hate Houston, but it would be kind of funny if they stole ANOTHER FA from LA.

Funny how everybody is assuming Gasol stays put. Memphis must be sitting there thinking "this is great - almost TOO great".

It's also interesting how much good press Robin is getting around the country. You're almost shocked to hear other teams getting excited about getting him. We really don't appreciate our own players enough.

It won't happen but IMO the best place for winning for LMA and Gasol IMO is to go together to Portland, they'd fit great together and there is already a YOUNG all star PG to play with and a nice mix of backup bigs, weakness is the wings but SG ain't bad with Hendo and CJ, just need an SF

So why should Gasol leave when he has Randolph and Conley already and a SF already?

That's what I was thinking too. Gasol looks to be a loyal player, but you really never know. Would that be the biggest steal in FA if Olshey stole Gasol and retained Aldridge?

I would say it's a few things, not saying this is likely.

1.) he isn't going to contend with the bunch he has already.

2.) Zach is on the back end of his career.

3.) Aldridge and Dame fit Gasol much better than Conley and Zach because dame and Aldridge can spread the floor.

Stotts would let gasol play point guard

I'm really not a fan of either Monroe or Hibbert. I never understood the interest in Greg Monroe, he's fairly mediocre on the offensive end, shoots under 50% and isn't much of a defender. And I see Hibbert as being like Rolo with a much worse offensive game.

You may want to take a quick look at some shooting percentages and where they shot from, mags. Conley actually has a much better 3pt% than Lillard, and Zach is a great mid range and decent 3 pt shooter too

Conley has a better 3p % mostly due to Lillards huge 3 month slump but i am surprised Conley shoots .375 from 3 for his career, he should be shooting more 3s for memphis.
Zachs an underrated 2p shooter but he almost never shoots 3. Zach just likes to play more under the basket.
The only way Gasol would come here is if he figured LMA/Lillard being younger then their memphis counterparts gave him a better and longer window to win. I personally dont think it does.

Don't want Hibbert or Monroe; neither is particularly athletic or intense; and I think that is the direction the Blazers are moving. Monroe does not play defense and Hibbert's defense is only effective against some teams and in some situations.

One guy I'm not hearing much about is Paul Milsap. Do we have a shot at him if we offer the Max? He's a good scorer from all over the court, good passer...instead of trying to find a defensive anchor, just go for offense baby!

I read that the Hawks do not own Milsap's bird rights and might have could have a tough time retaining him and Carroll.

I'd rather have Milsap than LA, because he only shoots 12 times a game instead of 20.

Why is no one mentioning Tobias Harris? 22 years old, definitely fits into Stotts' offense and rumor is ORL is not likely to match a near max/max offer for him.

The idea of a front court pairing of Monroe and LMA intrigues me because Monroe is a better defender than we think according to this research.

Yes it was written in January and is slightly dated, but his PnR defense is great apparently and he does fit with LMA offensively (look at his post ups) and passing numbers. Plus an offense more predicated on ball movement would benefit BOTH and you wouldn't be able to help off of him like teams did Rolo.

His midrange game is worse than I remembered, which is a knock, but boosted by great passing if people move off the ball. The middle, in theory, should be open because LMA and Monroe both pull their guy out of the middle.

His rim protection is horrific but once again, great pNr defense is very valuable.

A darkhorse candidate: Tobias Harris.

He's a black hole and a bit of a tweener but I forgot just how young he is: 22!

Though, he is asking for the max.

Aldridge resigns with the Blazers

So does Matthews, both with backend heavy deals

Portland lets Rolo walk...Mason Plumlee will be the starting center next year.

Portland keeps Crabbe, signs rookies Connaughton and Diez

Goes after DeMare Carroll who signs with the Mavericks

Orlando Sign and trades Tobias Harris for Henderson and Kaman with a future draft pick/or cash considerations.

Signs Al Farouq Aminu, Beno Udrih, Brandan Wright

Lillard/Udrih/McCollum
Matthews/McCollum/Crabbe/Connaughton
Harris/Aminu/Connaughton/Diez
Aldridge/Leonard/Vonleh/Connaughton

No way gasol leaves Memphis. There's a reason no ones talking about him leaving.

So throw actual reason and rationale out the winfow?

I think it's more that we (collectively) like coming up with various scenarios, even if that scenario is far fetched and unrealistic.

It helps hide the fact that the team could potentially lose Matthews, Lopez and Aldridge for little in the form of compensation.
