FA Targets

I think Olshey and Arn Tellem are pretty close, so I would look at players who have him as their agent as possible FA pickups. The 2 I'm thinking of are Gasol and Mike Miller. Veterans who can come in and score, something our current bench lacks the ability to do consistently.
Wow. How good would we be with both of those guys. I can't imagine it's possible, but just sayin'.

Elton Brand??? Anthony Morrow??? Emeka Okafor??? Leandro Barbosa??? Kris Humphries??? Ben Gordon??? Steve Blake??? Pau Gasol??? Marshon Brooks??? Jermaine O'Neal??? Drew Gooden??? Marvin Williams??? Gordon Hayward??? Jason Richardson??? Vince Carter??? Jimmer Fredette??? CJ Miles??? Caron Butler??? Any of these guys float your boat?

Right now, I think our main weaknesses are backup point guard, backup small forward, and backup center.

G
Avery Bradley
Shaun Livingston
Nick Young
Rodney Stuckey
Greivis Vasquez
Mario Chalmers
Patty Mills

SF
Luol Deng
Paul Pierce
Trevor Ariza
PJ Tucker

C
Pau Gasol
Marcin Gortat
Spencer Hawes
Emeka Okafor

From this list, I think Mario Chalmers would actually be an amazing backup point guard. He's a good defender, he passes, and he can shoot. Ariza would be fucking amazing as a backup. I don't know how much he's going to get. I also like Pierce, and you know he wants to win, but I could see him signing in LAC. For center, Okafor could be a nice piece at a cheap price. We could throw it all at Deng and move Wes to the bench.

There is also the possibility of bringing Steve Blake back.

I would like to see CJ Miles added to that list. Personally for bench players i don't mind tweeners at all. I think they help when the rotation shortens up at playoff time.

What about Nate Robinson for the smaller exception?

I think one flaw i see with your list Nate is that while I agree those guys are all solid, I think guys like Pierce are too old for the $$ and will be exceptionally hard to persuade to come here.

Also there could be a shitstorm of shaking up going on. The NBA raising the cap by 3mil more than expected is opening up some more options for teams that weren't there to begin with.

I hope your not suggesting Loul Deng as a 6th man type player? As for your list I really like Kirk Heinrich and Vince Carter.

Every player we get needs to be an above average defender.

If we can get a good enough SG or SF, I would look at moving Matthews to the bench. I've always thought he could do amazing in the 6th man spot.

Avery Bradley and Kaman along with finding a late 1st would be a great offseason IMO.

Chalmers is a wild card... depends on what happens with Lebron and Bosh.

If we want to make a big splash, go after Deng and move Wes to the bench.

If we want to add some solid pieces, go for someone like Ariza.

I think Ariza could move Wesley to the bench as well, and I'd definitely be alright with that.

Ya because Marc Belinelli is an above average defender

Whats wrong with Kaman?

He's not a defender to speak of. He's very slow at getting slower at 34. I get he's a vet and a pretty smart player. I suppose he wouldn't be terrible, as i suggested, if he doesn't bite into our capspace/mle. Preferably he would be content signing for the veterans minimum after we use up our capspace.

I would say from that list that Stuckey is a possible choice. Boston will match Bradley's offer unless it is so high that his nagging injuries scare them off. If it does , then i don't want him either.

Deng would be great if we could do a sign and trade. How else do we make room for a 10-11 million dollar contract? I still do not want to trade Nic for him

Evan Turner still intrigues me, as does Hawes.

Would love to steal Eric Bledsoe away from Phoenix. Do a sign and trade using CJ as bait, and I like CJ, but i think that would help both teams, or at least it would help us.

Can you still do sign and trades?

No way would Phoenix do it... they want to shore up other deficinies... they know the backcourt of Dragic and Bledsoe is a good deal... CJ is no where near the worth they would want for him... that's just silly.

Evan Turner has crashed and burned in Indy. Following him up close here is eye opening at how useless he is. Perhaps it's the system here (the fact that he can't dominate the ball like he used to), or it's the fact that he's joining an established team, but he sucks ass.

And the two problems he has here in Indy, he will potentially face in POR as well.

Regardless, though, he should come cheap

Bledsoe as a backup?

He would seriously be my #1 target. That guy can D up both guard positions, and if he can accept being the third guard, we'd have a nasty rotation. Also, he has some experience playing alongside a ball dominant PG in college (Wall), LA (CP), and PHX (Goran). He is a true combo guard.
