FA Targets

I don't think so. I think Robinson could be a very good starter, but he's not really a star. I'm not even sure Robinson will ever achieve what Aldridge has, but LA is getting up there in age. He's going to be 29 in July. So he's at his peak right now. I think he has a game that will age well, but you can already see the athleticism leaving him. He can't really jump that well. Robinson would be a great replacement to groom, but I don't think he's going to want to wait five or six years.

I don't think Robinson can be on LMA's level but I do think he can be an All-Star. He was drafted in an area where you almost expect it and sure teams can (and do) miss with picks but the guy seems to want to be a beast and that is half the battle.

With that said I wouldn't trade LMA unless Robinson became a revelation (which I don't think he can do in a year) but if we trade Robinson in say two years we better get a nice package back or I am going... well I don't know what I am going to do other then be pissed.

it sounds crazy but trob really does have a lot of dennis rodman in him. crazy athletic. can defend multiple positions. the tenacity. the energy. rebounding. I just really hope he reaches his potential.

I'm really not looking forward to giving Aldridge a five year, $127 million dollar contract as he turns 30 years old. Fortunately I think he still has a lot of gas left in the tank.

Depending on how the team is constructed, and what is coming back, trading LaMarcus could end up being the best play when that time comes. No one is 'untouchable' (except for Dame of course ;) ) and minding the salary cap with age appropriate players is the new priority in the NBA.

I am going to get blasted for even suggesting this but could Robinson progress enough next season that we sign and trade LMA next off-season?
It's what I'm hoping for. Paying LMA a 5-year MAX contract will absolutely kill this team's future - the next coming of Rashard Lewis.

Ruh roh. Now you're gonna feel the trade LA wrath!

Seriously, it's something our team will need to consider as they receive calls from other teams.

To me backup PG, backup SF, and backup C are the biggest needs in one order or another.

So with that said I go for the following guys (listed first is who I would approach first):
PG: Livingston, Vasquez, Sessions, Harris
SF: Ariza, Marion, Williams, Aminu
C: Okafor, Hawes, O'Neal

Tried to lean to more defensive players. If we want a good Center we are going to have to spend a lot though.

Mo and Earl and one to two of Leonard, Wright or Crabbe or Claver is dealt for a pick so I think we have 3 new bodies next year. Hopefully 1 at each of those positions listed above.

Hawes is one of the higher rated centers for upcoming free agency (in the top 3 according to HoopsHype). He may want more than our MLE.

Robinson wouldn't progress enough in a decade to justify a sign & trade of LaMarcus at any time.

His basketball potential, yes. His collecting hepatitis strains potential, I hope not...

I will take that bet. Robinson in 10 years will be better then LMA in 10 years but that is because LMA will be retired.

OK, you're on. What stakes? Oh, I know. Winner gets the loser's turn at Mrs. HCP, ten years and ten days from today.

You think LA will still be playing when he's 40?
No, but I'm willing to give up my place in line for Mrs. HCP in ten years to KOR, because we're good like that. Plus, whenever he has to follow me, it's like he's trying to touch the sides of a fish ladder with a toy submarine...

I'm pretty sure Meyers Leonard will be ready to take over the mantle by then. ;)

I don't see how he could get starter minutes. He's too short to play center and Aldridge has said again and again how he doesn't want to play center.

Actually LA has made a point of emphasizing he never said that, see his preseason interview. He didn't want to play exclusively center but he is more than fine doing it for stretches of a game or against backups. The team often paired LaMarcus with TRob on the court at the same time.

Yeah a part of me can see the logic in that and avoiding a $120 million contract. But another part of me thinks of those first two games against Houston with LA looking like an MVP, a money jumper and inside moves of Olajuwon. The team really struggled without LA in the lineup at the end of the regular season.

I've already said it once, The Blazers have always been blessed with great power forwards. No matter what has happened that is one position the Blazers have been very solid in. Take it with a grain of salt but I wouldn't be worried to much.

LMA was +19.5 On/Off for the playoffs. Anybody with eyeballs knows that the Blazers were holding on to stay in the game when he wasn't on the court.

Lillard was +6.5 for the playoffs, which was basically his season's total.

LMA was +8.8 for the regular season. Sometimes I wonder if Blazer fans have some sort of self-destructive gene which causes them to try and run the best player on the team out of Portland.
