Facebook IPO

On one hand, Facebook is used by 1 out of every 10 people on the planet, and growing. Not many businesses can say that.

On the other hand, I've spent well over $200k in the past 5 years on online advertising. Google has been gold for me. Facebook has been "branding," which is a nice way of saying "people looked but didn't buy, but maybe someday will." FB will always have that problem.

If they spend it on operations, it's going to be a disaster. If they buy businesses that are generating revenues with the money, it could be hugely successful and the ad revenues won't mean _everything_.

When your business model is based on ditching your business model to go out and buy other business models with all the cash idiots have dumped in your lap, you kind of have to wonder about the business model.

Seems like a redux of AOL/Time Warner.

I'm a 20 year old socially adept male and I hate facebook, haven't had an account in a year
