So I'm at about the 35 hour mark and I know I'm about done with the main quest (thanks to Mr. Players Guide), and I'm still loving it. Speaking of the main quest....it just took a couple crazy and unexpected turns over the course of the last couple main quest sections. To say the least, I can't get enough of this game and I don't want it to end...which is why I'm going to mess around on sidequests here shortly...so I DON'T get to the end.

Just beat the game a little bit ago...wow. What a fucking game. Easily the game of the year and one of my favorites of all time. I won't spoil anything in regards to how it ends or any of the plot twists, but it's damn good.

As far as length...it took me just under 40 hours...I think about 38ish hours, to beat. I ended at level 17 out 20. However, of the 100+ locales in the game...I only discovered 47..so I was really only scratching the surface of what's in this game. I now have full intentions on going through and beating the game as a good or neutral character, seeing as how I was an evil, rotten bastard this time through. I'm also gonna work on discovering more this time through. But yea, damn good game, now that I've beaten it, I can 100% say that it is worth every penny you could spend on it and it's a game you'll want to play again.

I'm playing this game on my PC right now.

I've made it to Megaton and got the quest of getting food and medicine supplies for the research book. I'm gonna continue the game when i get back home.

If anything, the story of the game sounds very good so far, but my PC isn't handling the game well.

I didn't take that risk Hence why I'm getting it for 360

Yeah definitely get it for PS3 or 360.

One thing i like about this game is the RPG aspect of it, but i don't really know how well it'll factor into the game since i haven't played that much.

The RPG elements HEAVILY factor in the game. For example...if you have a low small guns skills, you're going to suck with them. It'll take you 7 or 8 shots to take out a lot of things. Once you raise that up, you become more adept at using them and killing things becomes easier. Lets take Super Mutants for an example. It used to take probably 6 or 7 shots of any of my guns to kill them. Once I got my small guns skills around 80, I was taking them out in a couple shots with a variety of weapons.

Another example is the repair skill. The higher you have that, the better condition weapons are when you get them, and also the more you can repair them. Medecine is another good example. The higher your meds skills, the more you get out of stimpacks.

Got this yesterday and I'm loving it, it basically is Oblivion just set in the future and a little bit more scary

I wouldn't quite call it a futuristic version of Oblivion. Gameplay wise, somewhat, but character building was done a lot better in Fallout 3 than in Oblivion.

Yeh true the character development is better, Just saying I am enjoying tgis game as much as I enjoyed Oblvion maybe more :D

Nice. I would have to say I enjoyed this game more than Oblivion, especially if you take in to consideration that I beat this game, unlike Oblivion. However, I have bought Oblivion on 3 occasions and might buy it again so I can actually beat it....

I beat both Oblivion and recently FO3. I must say the ending was horrible for me. (Bad Karma)
Great game overall but I think they should have made the ending a bit better.

I had the bad karma ending too, and I didn't think it was too bad. I also saw...like, 5 or 6 different bad karma endings.

The unthinkable has happened and I've picked this game back up and I'm into it.

Actually, I change my mind all the time, so it's not really unthinkable.

I appreciate the game now.

What it took was me watching justin.tv and seeing some guy playing The Pitt. For some reason it got me thinking about the game and wanting to give it another chance.

I'm glad I did though I have a PC copy and it stalls a lot.

Haven't played this game in a while, might get back into it :)

Bought the Broken steel add-on and loved it, the fact you can now progress to level 30 is nice and the story-line/new stuff is a nice too :)

I'm bout to pick this up tomorrow with the GOTY version. Anything I should when I first start playing it?

Anticipate this thing taking over your free time, especially with all the expansions included in that package.

Got it few weeks ago, love it. (loved oblivion too, epic game)

Any tips on how to get fast money, where to get the dog, and how to get followers. There's Jericho at Megaton, but you gotta have bad karma + 1000 caps to get him (that's what I've seen so far).

Oh I can help. Some tips for fast money, collect enemies armor. Power armor is more valuable, so if you get some, go sell it, unless you want and can wear it. Collection weapons and items are very helpful to get money. Also search places, exploring is key. The dog, aka Dog Meat, can be found in the scrapyard. Dog Meat might be being attacked by raiders, so keep your eye open. Jericho is not the best follower. Do you want to be good or evil? I also suggest NOT killing people randomly from the cities, ie Megaton, and Rivet City. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_3 Helpful website for Fallout 3.

You have to explore the game as much as possible, look in all trash containers, tool boxes, etc.. Go into buildings that aren't marked on your map and clear them out. Check every corpse. Really, it isn't in the spirit of the story, but to be good at the game you have to be greedy. Leave no stone unturned. Gore bags tend to pay out the best treasure, IMHO.

With locked doors and boxes use the save feature to your advantage. Save game before you attempt to pick or hack a lock and if you fail, reload the game and try again. This will save you pins and also keep you from screwing the lock and not being able to access whatever you were trying to get behind it.

I disagree with collecting armour for cash. The issue is that it is very heavy early on in the game when you probably can't carry as much and you need more money than later on (when you'll eventually have piles of cash you can't even spend). It is easier to collect lots of semi-valuable lightweight items and leave the heavy stuff behind (if only temporarily).

Once you have completed the Megaton quests, supposing you do them in such a way that you gain a locker in Megaton, you can really start hauling stuff back and forth and using the base to stockpile items once the shops run out of money. Only pick up heavy weapons and armour for the repair parts and break them down as you need them at first. One trick is to collect everything in one location and stuff it into a fridge or drop it by the door or something, that way you can go back and forth from there to Megaton and totally wipe clean a part of the map (such as the Mirelurk sewer side quest). Use the quick travel feature your map provides as much as possible unless you want to spend extra hours walking to Megaton.

Without giving too much away you can pick up a female follower mid-way through the game when you are in the heart of DC looking for artifacts. Save your game frequently when you have a follower because they tend to rush into battle and get their head blown off. Don't take slaves if you want good karma.

Complete side quests before trying the main story quests, too. The more side quests you do, the stronger you'll get, and then the harder main quests won't be as bad. Plus you'll be better equipped.

Another tip is to stay well rested. You'll get more XP for kills and quests when you are rested.

I dislike the save feature there. All you have to do is simply not break the lockpick. If it gets a tad bit difficult, back out of the lockpicking and then try again.

I completely disagree with what you said, but its your choice. I got heaps of cash doing it my way. Kill a few raider or somewhere wearing power armor, get their armor, fast travel back to town, sell armor, fast travel back to where you were, kill, get armor, fast travel. Simple as that. All the semi-valuable lightweight items are a waste of my inventory, and its cluttered.

Everything else you said I like. If you DO click that link I posted, BEWARE of SPOILERS. And a SHIT LOAD of them.

^ Well when you first start the game you aren't going to see anyone with power armour that you can handle. That's at least mid way through the game, by which point you should have a bunch of money using my method ;)

I just got back in to it because I recently got all the expansions except Mothership Zeta, because those aren't available in disc format (and I don't have XBL).

Tip to get money, depends on what route you go karmically. Since my dude is pure evil, I wipe out any traders that I find, that includes the caravans that have the brahman with them. They generally have some good cash on them, and also have decent weaponry you can sell back as well. Also, get your repair skill to 100 and pick up weapons and armor like crazy and just repair them. If you're like me, I have a ton of stuff in my safehouse in Megaton that I can sell if I ever need to.

^ Supposedly Mothership Zeta isn't as good as the others.

That's what I've heard, which is why I don't care about it. Initially I was only going to get the pack with Broken Steel and Point Lookout, but the Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt were also at Gamestop used, so I couldn't say no. I got 4 DLC packs for literally nothing. Yay for Gamestops used game policy.

I just used Power Armor as an example, due to the fact its the armor on the boxart. I did collect raider armor. I raided the raiders and sold their junk. =P

Lies! Zeta is better than Anchorage. I still need to actually play Zeta, but I watched a run through and tons of other stuff and I like it. This thread might make me play again.

Mothership Zeta glitches for me when I'm on the operating table. It just infinitely loops and I can never actually play.

I have all the DLC and I'm going thru Point Lookout right now.
