Thank you for all the good thoughts.

All of the kids are doing as well as could be expected. I had to go buy another refrigerator for the garage for the extra food, but other than that it has been pretty seamless. The Southern Baptist church was a trip. The relative there was extremely uninterested in getting to know any of the kids. I told them it was because of the shock of seeing them with me. Football has started up for us, so now I have 4 boys in football, which is tough, but my wife and daughter, who hate sports, have been awesome by helping take kids to practice and sitting there until it's over. Davidisha is in summer school because she basically never went this whole year. I convinced the school to give her a chance to test out of the grade, which they did. She is in summer school and being tutored daily for reading comprehension. I am most proud of my 3 own children. They have been sacrificing a lot the past week without much of any complaint. Families in the area have been great to, in making sure the 4 new kids are invited to birthday parties that my kids are invited to

Great to hear MM. Someday when me and the wife aren't living in a studio apartment it'd be great to do something like this. But that is just talk and you're actually out there helping out. Cheers to you and your family. Sounds like the kids found a great home!

Explain the issue with the church. Why'd you take them there?

One of their relatives attends the church. The social worker set it up with her to meet the kids and get to know them, so they could have a sense of family. It is also very important, according to the social worker, to keep some of the same cultural things the same for them. They had attended a southern Baptist church before, so everyone thought it would be a good idea.

Gotcha. Real classless by the relative at the church to act like that. People are allowed to act like douchebags at church? :devilwink:
Props to you!

MM, nothing but admiration here for what you're doing. Very few people would do so with the kind of good attitude you are showing. BTW, if any of the kids show some real football prowess, UO is a great school.

I don't think MM wants to raise any pot heads :devilwink:

I already "recruit" down here by wearing all my Duck gear to games of big time athletes

What do you call an OSU grad? an Engineer

What do you call a UofO grad? a Barista

I have a niece that just graduated from OSU with a civil engineering degree and another niece in the program now

Honestly I haven't ogled them as much as maybe you would have liked me to. Blonde, busty, not fat. They come from a long line of busty females on their mothers side

congrats on your wife then?

Congrats to her and her family. They must be very proud

Ya, my 11 year old will play on one, and my own son and his foster brother will play on another

How worried are you about competition between the two or jealousy? Given them any talks beforehand or do you avoid to keep form planting the seed?

There is no jealousy in my family

I have used this quote with my kids their whole lives, and I believe they listened to it

A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity

I agree with that statement, but do you really think teenagers are not commonly insecure?

I think they are in general, but my philosophy is to be the best you that you can be. Everything else will take care of itself
