Ron White is one of the funniest dirtiest comedians, and he always has a drink in hand and a cigar. When they were remaking match game, I was praying they'd get him to host, even though that would never happen.

The new dave chapelle Netflix specials are garbage.

Yeah. I thought they weren't his best but garbage? C'mon now. If you're looking for Chappelle show Dave you'll never see that again. Also, he had a good amount of Trump material. I see why you protest.

I watched the first part. I laughed, yeah it isn't Chappelle show by any stretch but the stove top stuffing part was exactly how I felt as a kid. I was more jealous of kids who had Koolaid.

It got too preachy at times. The Trump stuff didn't bother me, it just wasn't really funny. I mean sure, if I want some history of what black people have gone through without much of a comedy slant, sure, but as a Chapelle stand up comedy routine, it kinda sucked. It seems a lot of it was apologizing for the Transexual backlash from his last special. Spent way too long on Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Louis CK too, after a while it just got a little boring.

I actually did. I remember sitting through it and for about 20-25 minutes I just never laughed. I don't know if it's his delivery, or what... but I just did not like it. I mean, he's popular as hell, so it's probably just me. lol.
Racist obv

He's one I just do not get. I've tried to get into him.... and I just couldnt.

I'm right there with you. His timing sucks IMO. I genuinely think he's not that funny and tries to hard.

Anything....I mean anything by George Carlin! No one was ever like him. th1E525IRS.jpg

I like Gabriel Iglesias because he's funny as hell but talks to you like you're a friend. Could have went to see him last month, but god damn those tickets are expensive.
That's why Utube is our friend.

That bit he did about the rental car on "Seinfeld" was freaking hilarious.

Some of my favorites:

Tim Hawkins is seriously underrated with different voices. His impressions and accents are fucking hysterical. I had a chance to go see him here in Vancouver this month, but I passed it up.

So much more that I could post when I remember them.

Robin Williams couldn't do a routine without drugs and loose pants.

Norm and Eddie Izzard. Eddie Izzard's old bits were probably the best stand-up comedy ever. So funny.

I’m a huge Chappelle fan. Huge. Love his comedy. He’s one of the greatest of all time. Watched all 4 of his specials this year. On a couple of them he panders and kinda makes shitty points. Gets to the point where it’s like ehhh okay we al wanna go forward right? Well uhhh why are we still talking about slavery and emmet tills story? Other than that stuff I really liked his specials.

Adam Sandler is coming to town apparently..

Cheapest ticket I can find is $250+ ... I can't justify that, and I've loved him for decades. *sigh*

Maria Bamford just came through Eugene and I missed her show....she's Jonathan Winters crazy!

Around the time comedians started thinking their personal political views mattered to their audience, the laughter subsided and the art of comedy all but died.

All my favorite comedians are either dead or not feeling well.

Love Maria Bamford. One of my faves.

Gonna switch over to the comedy station on iHeart now, because this thread has me in the mood.

Natasha Leggero, haven't seen any of her bits but I have a feeling I'd love them all.

Agreed.

Few stand-ups who become famous don't fall into the trap of thinking their opinions are important.

It's also a trend to have (mostly young) stand-ups who think that political and social commentary is comedy. Comedy is comedy.

I'm 4 episodes in, but I think that the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is pretty damn funny. Then again, I really liked Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (yup, I was the one).
