I'm not sure if its been posted but this is my all time favorite Cover and I think it is one of the greatest Covers of all time. Its rare when one Artists cover is so profound that the Original Artist them self talks about how the Cover was so good that it not only eclipsed his own version but also took over ownership of the song from him as well.

I agree, it's incredible, one of my favorites too! I can't listen to it without getting choked up. And watching the video with all of the old pictures of June... forget about it, I end up with tears streaming down my face!

Perhaps the best cover band in the history of rock and roll! Their double live Rare Earth in Concert Album is one of the best live albums ever released. Their covers of both "I'm Losing You" and "Get Ready" both outsold the Temptations' original versions. I remember watching their California Jam performance on TV back in 1974. That was a GREAT music festival with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Eagles, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc., but in my opinion Peter Rivera and Rare Earth stole the show. They were such a great live band and Rivera had the perfect voice for their blue eyed soul music style.

I'll have to see if I can find some links for these, but here's two more great covers:

"Fever" by Peggy Lee

"Train Kept a Rollin'" by The Yardbirds.

I have a live version of "Train Kept a Rollin" by the Yardbirds on a rare British import album and it TOTALLY blows away ANYTHING ever done by Aerosmith. So much raw energy, and Keith Relf's vocals were intense. Can't recall if the version I'm thinking of has Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, or both, on lead guitar. I'll have to check the album liner notes.
