Personally, I can't stand reality TV. I think it's corporations saving a buck on quality programming and entertainers and pawning off on us cheap productions and uninteresting content. I find myself drawn to shows that have big stars and particularly actors who've been in the movies or on the stage. Or shows with big budget effects. I'm also good with quality production and upcoming actors. Aside from sports, of course.

So my kinds of shows are:
Boston Legal (of course!)
Two and a Half Men
House
Sara Connor Chronicles
Stargate SG-1/Atlantis
Eureka
Battlestar Gallactica
ER
Grey's Anatomy
My Name is Earl
Mythbusters
The Closer
CSI/any
Entourage
The Unit
Men in Trees

New shows:
Raising the Bar is good so far
Fringe

Two shows I never got into but should have are Lost and 24. In both cases, I missed the first few episodes and figured I wanted to catch up on DVD rather than start watching in the middle. Lost is being run on SciFi now, so I intend to start watching it from the beginning (DVR rules).

I also am addicted to networks like the History Channel and the Science Channel, especially the astronomy and space programs.

Then of course, there's the fact that the shows I really like the most seem to get canceled. Like the Sopranos or Deadwood or Rome or Stargate SG-1 (and soon Atlantis) or Battlestar or Jerhico or Surface or E-Ring. Not sure if The Unit is coming back. This is also the last season of ER and Boston Legal.

How about you?

I'm big into these shows

Lost
Two and a Half Men
How I Met Your Mother
The Office
Big Brother
Forensic Files
Rob and Big
Cold Case

For the past 8-10 years, I've largely lost interest in most TV (Scrubs was a notable exception for a few years), but I do still enjoy things on the History channel and Science channel. Some of my recent favourite series:

The Universe
Engineering An Empire
Prehistoric Predators
American Eats
Roman Emperors
Jurassic Fight Club

One HBO show that I want to see sometime (on DVD, I guess) is Rome. It seems like quite an interesting history-based (though loosely) drama.

My favorite TV shows:

My most favorite shows:
Lost
Dexter
Reaper
I have to admit I love some reality shows: My 3 favorite reality shows are Survivor, Big Brother and The Amazing Race.

Shows I just sort of like:

Heroes
Bones
Supernatural
The Closer

I also liked the new show Fringe. The Fringe first episode Pilot was just ok but the second episode last night was great IMO. I read where the later episodes are a lot better then the pilot.

The new show that I'm most exited about is Dollhouse which won't start until mid season.

The shows that I liked and shouldn't have been cancelled was Firefly.

Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, King of the Hill, Malcolm in the Middle, House, I Love Money, Countdown, Hardball, Dateline NBC stuff.

TV makes me go insane.

If I'm watching it, it's going to either be Lost, the daily show, Futurama, the Venture Brothers, antiques roadshow (hahaha) or sports. Mostly Lost.

My son and I are nuts over Prison Break. We saw a couple of the first few shows then missed almost all of the rest of the first season. Then we ended up catching an episode out of sequence and going online and ordering from itunes all the episodes and subscribing so we'd be sure to get any new ones. So we had a marathon and watched them all in a couple of days and now have a regular thing on Mondays where we watch together. If you have a favorite show or one that you think you'd like to catch up on...itunes is a great way to do it.

Oh right. The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Forgot those...I very much enjoy those two shows.

Sports, any real News channel, Colbert, some others too but I don't want to bore you.

Daily show, scrubs, Colbert report, South Park, Robot Chicken, family guy, VENTURE BROS!!, and a long list of anime...

24 (best show on tv, hands down)
Scrubs
Law and Order: SVU
Boondocks
Live at Gotham
South Park
I want to work for Diddy

too many more to name...

How I Met Your Mother
Blazers Basketball

If it wasn't for NBA League Pass, I wouldn't have DirectTV at all.

I only shows I watch religiously are Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage. The Wire is my favorite show of all-time, and I still watch it on DVD occasionally.

NCIS
Criminal Minds
The Simpsons
Dr. Who?
Last of the Summer Wine
Stargate: Atlantis
America's Test Kitchen
Trailblazer Away Games

Survivor & Ice Road Truckers are pretty good. I love the reality stuff. I'll watch Nancy Grace if she's on...

Dexter
House
Hell's Kitchen/Kitchen Nightmares
Family Guy
old Simpsons
Seinfeld
Heroes

Oh yeah, DexterDexterDexterDexter.

Just started watching that show a month ago and love it. All shows suck in comparison now.

I agree Dexter IMO is the best show on TV. I have been watching it from the start. Season 3 starts towards the end of sept. I only subscribe to Showtime when Dexter is playing. Showtime sent me an email of episode 1 of season 3 to watch. I guess they want me to come back. I keep thinking they might run out of material for Dexter but the 1st episode of season 3 was great. I will be signing up to Showtime soon just for Dexter.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Harvey Birdman
Squidbillies
The Ultimate Fighter
Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (UK, not US)

All high-brow fare, obviously.

Edit: I also used to watch South Park a lot until the creators became Libertarian mouthpieces.

Fresh Prince
Three's Company
George Lopez
SportsCenter
South Park
Family Matters

We got showtime for two months free for bitching about our DVR and now we are hooked.

AS for season 3 episode 1....who's jealous? I AM.

so, they were smart and we are going to get showtime now.
