Whats your preferred shipping company? Mines always been UPS.
But really my main purpose of this thread is to turn people off from Fed ex based on the below experiences:

So id like to let the powers that be, know about my experiences with fed ex over the last week.

My wife and i ordered a new phone and line. We specifically asked for the package to not be delivered with a signature required. However it was shipped with that requirement.
That is on the phone company.
However when the product arrived, they left a door tag with a printed tracking number on it and a number to call.
So i call the number. Its an automated service requesting the tracking number before i can proceed.
I enter the tracking number and the voice tells me it is invalid. So i ask for a customer service rep. The voce then says, i can do that but first i must have a valid tracking number. I ask again for customer service and the voice says without a valid tracking number i cannot help you.
So i hang up and call back and choose the claims option. After battling the auto voice for a few minutes, basically making up a claim story to get a live person on the phone i finally got someone.
She then told me the tracking number doesn't exist. And she cant help me. No driver note on the door tag, no vLid tracking number and so no way to find the package to try to figure out how to have it rerouted.

So i call back the next day and after more auto voice battles finally get someone on the phone who found the package. So now i ask for it to be changed to be left at the door without a signature.

She said they cant change it.
I said okay then reroute it to my work where im at every day.
Nope sorry cant do that either.
So now the only way to get the package is for me to have to drive to another city and pick it up.
I will be doing that tomorrow.
Now i come home from work today to find another package delivered. Set on our cement porch. Or should i say dropped or slammed?
The bottle inside was busted and leaked all over. However with how the box was on the porch it was obvious it broke right there, as the only soaked side of the box was the one on the ground( with moisture creeping up the sides)
I mean wth???

What is it with this piss poor customer service?
Drive cant scan the tag he left so the tracking number gets into their system? Fed ex wont allow me to reroute a package????
Fed ex cant handle packaged with a little bit of care when delivering them????????

Ive been a shipping manager for years and ship out thousands and thousands of pounds a day.

This is unacceptable customer service…..

Edit: i posted this on their customer complaints page but after reading a bunch of similar complaints and the lack of responses from fed ex? Im going public with this….

Dont ever use fed ex. Ask the company you are having ship something to you, who they ship through. Avoid any company that only uses fed ex…

Fed Ex has always sucked. I've heard many people having issues with them lately.

To be honest, USPS kinda sucks too.

Ups is the best

although I don’t have any experience with DHL

DHL used to be great, but they exited the US market, I think they are only international or you can receive only from out of the country or some shit.

Fed Ex ground isnt very good. They use private contractors.
UPS ground is hard to beat.

UPS ground is great. USPS is far less expensive and often faster. Though the tracking isn't quite as good.

Ordered underwear and sweats from Hanes a few weeks ago and they were sent by DHL, which took like two weeks. They were shipped from Kentucky right before those tornadoes though, so that could be a factor.

Amazon should probably be on option too. I think my family gets more things delivered by them than anyone else, but I guess that's not really what this thread is about. Sorry about the hassle OB. I've been there before, what a pain in the ass.

I had fedex throw a box in the wet snow at the end of the driveway recently. Was half-covered when I found it and the box was falling apart.

barfo

next time fully cover yourself before wandering into the snow drifts...the neighbors will appreciate it!

I have mucho problems with UPS. I've had UPS leave my insulin at my front door which we seldom use (the front door) on a hot summer day without either knocking on my door or even ringing my doorbell. They NEVER knock or ring the doorbell which the mailman does when he delivers packages of any sort. I've complained several times where they said they would talk to the delivery man but nothing changes. Sometimes my insulin would sit in the not sun for more than a day before we would accidentally discover it. Got so bad that the VA changed their delivery process now requiring UPS to get our signature before delivering any VA package. The other packages we don't worry about because no one in our neighborhood has ever stolen one of our packages.

From what i know, unless a sig is required, none of the companies will knock or ring the doorbell. The company shipping should be able to put special instructions on where to deliver on the package or on your account. Ive found ups is good with following them overall. Way better than amazon, fed ex or usps.

Lanny, im pretty sure you can provide ups instructions on where to leave a package. We have three doors and never use our front either. I have instructions applied to my address for anything delivered goes to the side door with covered patio and cement steps.
We also have this request with Amazon. However, whenever it isn't a ups driver, package isn't delivered correctly.
Many times ive come home to find a package at our backdoor that has no cover even they they drive by two doors, both with covers.
I mean who the hell leaves a package at the ONE door without a cover in this nw weather?

You must have a driver on your route.

Hey @MickZagger whats your route again? LakeO? LOL!

For some of our family members in the PNW, we purchased Christmas gifts and mailed them USPS. Some of those gifts were books.....not weighing much and relatively small packages. We paid nearly $25 each for shipping!! This is $25 that could've otherwise been applied to a better gift(s) via Amazon.

If a package was only books. I believe you could have sent them media mail through usps. If you ship something media mail, it is ridiculously cheap.

yet none of them will ring your doorbell when dropping off a package. How hard is it to push a button as they drop the package off?

I don't want them ringing my doorbell. It makes my dogs go crazy and my kid wakes up if they are taking a nap.

Get a Ring doorbell. I know whenever someone drops off a package because I get a notification on my phone. Way better than someone ringing the doorbell.

I’m in SW. But what Lanny needs to do is go on UPS My Choice and he can set instructions on where to leave the package and the driver will be notified when they scan into the stop. I think you can even get texts when it’s delivered if it’s important that you know.

Your typical Amazon package with a toothbrush or toilet paper or whatever I’m not going to ring the doorbell. If it’s something valuable or I need a signature I will. I’ve been yelled at by too many angry moms with sleeping babies and graveyard workers, along with dogs that go ape shit for me to ring the bell on every delivery.

And yes, we’re much better than Amazon and fed ex and get told by customers pretty much daily. Especially fed ex. Order coming from them might never come from what I hear
