Felton to the Lakers for a trade exception?

As shitty as he has been, i don't see him being given away for nothing, especially to the Lakers.

Well ... considering he's probably going to be let go for nothing when his contract expires, I'd say a trade exception would be fine ... except that LA is hopelessly over the cap. So ...

Interesting. Who would that make the PG?

Could the Blazers then use the trade exception, and does it expire?

That doesn't matter to a trade exception.

I guess I forgot that they actually have a trade exception to use. But wow, imagine paying Felton 7 million dollars for the next 30 games. Jim Buss for executive of the year.

It sure would be nice to have a fucking GM on the payroll.

They'd go from having 2 really bad PG's to 3 really bad PG's

Happy Jerry West is no longer there running things.

LA to hold press conference here!

well, they don't actually pay him 7 million for those 30 games.

If this happens, then we would not have to waive Armon or Oden to sign Przy.

Just fyi.

I'd do it just to watch LA suffer.

Silly how the luxury tax rules are, but they would be paying Felton's salary in dollar for dollar penalties plus any salary he earns for the rest of the year. I doubt this is true.

During other seasons this could make a lot of sense, but for us not this year. We only have ~$25million in guaranteed contracts next season, so we would have to renounce the trade exception anyways. It really won't do us any good. Better to just hold on to Felton even as a backup and keep his free agent rights for the offseason. We may be able to include him in a larger sign and trade (NY Knicks?) or possibly resign him for a cheap one year deal if he feels like getting in shape and redeeming himself.

I don't necessarly think Felton is worth terribly much more then nothing right now, but he is worth slight more then nothing. The trade exception is worth even closer to nothing than Felton is to us.

Do they still have their first round pick? The Blazers might actually be able to get a useful player in this draft if they have several picks.

They have both their own pick or the one they got from Dallas for Odom. Either of those two, and I do this in a second.

Any chance the Lakers would throw in Rebecca Haarlow if we give them HCP?

How do you figure? They're in the luxury tax. Felton's salary is around 7 ish million dollars a year so they'd pay double his salary prorated for the rest of the year ... around 7 million dollars.

Can't wait for half the people here to be clamoring for him to be back next season.

I still think there's a good chance he turns things around, in the can't get worse sort of thinking. If you can get the TPE and a 1st, while at the same time giving Nolan more minutes, ultimately that's probably a good thing. I really like Nolan. But also, would hope we find something for that TPE, since we would essentially be renouncing it in the offseason to have cap space.

If Nate's still here there's no chance in hell he'd resign here.

I worded it bad. Meant, during next season, people saying they wished he was here. Same way most seemed to hate Andre at the end of last season, or before, yet now wish he was still here. Seems to be a never ending cycle with some positions here, or just players in general.

I had forgotten that aspect of the salary cap.

L.a. Suffer?! Yeah knowing our luck; Felton becomes fat sanity and wins a ring with lakers.
