Female hostage raped by IS

You know, MM, when you put my post in quotes it comes up "crandc says". crandc did not say what you said I said.

I asked a question - are you equally outraged when it is a different kind of victim, or rapist? I did not ask you to start a thread about every rape; your fingers would fall off, I'm sorry to say.

Men can talk about rape and it's a serious discussion. Or maybe a joke. But a woman, apparently, cannot enter the conversation.

SlyPokerDog, we just have to disagree.

I would enjoy a woman joining the discussion, as long as she didnt seem to have some agenda and start attacking someone who was sickened by a rape.

I dont think you needed to go off on me because i thought some woman getting raped by these terrorist fucks was bad.

It certainly doesnt mean I condone others. Or arent equally sickened by them.

It's sad that she grew up in such educational isolation that she walked unsuspectingly into the lion's den. Contrary to what corporate media would have you believe, America is one of the safest places to live on Earth. But it's not a force field that protects you wherever you go. Much of the rest of the world, especially those where people are neediest, are lawless hellholes and tribal warzones. She "chose" to go to one, unprotected. Realistically, she AND HER PARENTS should have known she would die. The fact she was being raped is probably the only reason she was kept alive. They like to behead Americans.

Our government can't/won't do a thing to help you once you leave our borders. Iraq, Iran, Chile, Jamaica, Germany, Japan, Great Britain, France...you're on your own. Thanks to missionaries and Big Oil, Americans are hated by somebody in pretty much every corner and mud hut village around the world.

Luckily, for Americans who really want to selflessly help people in dire need, they need look no further than the nearest American city.

Women are not that safe in the USA when compared to other counties.

The USA has one of the highest rape rates in the world. Although the rate has been slowly declining recent years, the rape rate in the USA is still worse than 85% of all other countries where stats are available. (119 of the 195 counties release stats, the USA is listed around 14th).

To bring it closer to home, Mexico’s rape rate is about half of the USA. Canada has one of the lowest rape rates in the world. The USA rape rate is about 15 times or more than Canada’s.

Reported rapes per 100,000 population
USA 27.3
Mexico 13.2
Canada 1.7

There maybe better stats than these, but the best I can do tonight.

Worthless.

The safest place would have the highest rate of reporting while the worst countries for rape would also be the least safe for a woman to report a rape, hence a low number on your stat sheet. It's pretty much a reverse stat.

Did the mediocre man have an agenda? Clearly he did; no one had a problem. But my "agenda" is a problem?

My point, god, sometimes I really do have to explain everything in words of one syllable, is that mediocre man seemed selective in his outrage. And I wondered if his outrage was based on the fact that she was the "right" kind of woman attacked by the "wrong" kind of man.

Or just a desire to bash "liberals" by asking for bombing which in fact is already going on?

You know, I don't really need to have sexual assault mansplained to me.

I have yet to see anyone say people are "stupid" for joining the military, or becoming firefighters, or police officers. We just lost a firefighter. No one said he should have gotten some desk job somewhere.

My "agenda" was reading a horrible story and posting about it. Why the fuck is that a bad thing?

As for bombing them, I want the whole area to be a divot. Fuck all of them. Hyperbole.....yes.

Your posts have been asinine, IMO. Your agenda with certain posters is tired.

If an American went to Syria to join their fire department I would have no problem saying that they were stupid. If they went to Turkey to join their fire department, were kidnapped and taken to Syria I would be outraged.

I would like to add that it's always a good idea to check travel.state.gov pages for international travel alerts and warnings.

Syria Travel Warning.

But would you feel the EXACT same level of outrage to satisfy some posters here?

I'm not sure what you mean but I'm guessing it has to do with Crandc. I don't always agree with her but I enjoy her posts and take on things. She brings a unique and needed voice to many of our discussions.

And more importantly, she lives in the Bay area, it would be so easy for her to jump on the Warriors bandwagon right now but she has remained a rapid and loyal Blazer fan.

Voice, yes. The personal shit, no.

Seemed to you. No sane person I've ever known would read so much into a guy reading a story on the Internet and clicking a bookmark that takes him here so he could start a thread. On his phone, probably waiting for his wife to choose a purse at the mall.

Yes, violence against women is a shame, and it's even more of a shame that violence against men is not nearly the empathic equal despite the far greater male victim rates. To relate it to the ISIS topic one just has to read the myriad stories detailing the atrocious rapes carried through by ISIS , and while describing the typical kidnapping of the female(s), it's rather casually presented as an afterthought, that although the young women are kidnapped and presumably held to be raped, it's that the young men are told to lie down in a hole and then are shot to death.

School shopping, actually. Yes,crandc, the Devil shops

I should have known. Purse shopping would have given him time to write a manifesto and post links and even photoshop Osama Bin Laden's face on someone.

If we think ISIS is isolated in it's ability to rape women, we're ignoring our own military record for raping women during wartime and when they join to serve. Not easy for women to get justice within our own services. I know women were raped by US soldiers on RandR from the Viet Nam war and also in villages in combat situations. This is not an isolated event. There are a lot of war babies all over the globe from soldiers. It's wrong and should be addressed but as highly evolved as modern societies think they are, there are some pretty barbaric assholes with guns running around. Not only women suffer from this. It happens to children as well.

I don't believe in devils, mediocre man. I'm an atheist, remember? No gods, no devils, no supernatural beings.

I'm sorry (no I'm not) that I did not ask permission of some of the men here before posting. Yes, sarcasm.

Dog, we just fundamentally disagree. Because to me those who risk their lives to help others are heros, not stupid as Maris said. I think of the aid workers who are helping girls and women escape from ISIS at great risk. The people in Europe who risked their lives hiding Jews. The French Resistance. The people who when threatened continued to fight injustice. The civil rights protesters faced attack dogs, fire hoses, firebombings, murder. Martin Luther King and Archbishop Romero paid with their lives, Nelson Mandela spent decades in prison. What about the American Revolution? It was much safer to accept British rule! And I also think of journalists who risked their lives to inform the world.

And sadly riverman is right. And most women (or children, or men) are not Perfect. So when a woman (or child, or man) is sexually assaulted or raped too often the focus is what did she/he do to cause it? Since no one is Perfect, you can always find some error, some dumb thing, that the person did, that may be irrelevant to the attack but is still seized on to say "ah ha! She was asking for it because she ..... "

I wonder why you think you need permission? I dont recall anyone saying that?

Maybe just stop with your passive agressive insults, like calling me "the medioce man" when all i did was say we should kill IS people and didnt like them raping. Then you decided to take exception to that for whatever reason.yelling about the right women being raled or whatever bullshit you were screaming about.

How is putting "the" in front of "mediocre man" an insult?
There might be one, but I doubt you will find a "the riverman"

As to the "she asked for it" crap. Car accidents are bad, people die. If you weren't wearing your seatbelt it is human nature for others to at least put part of the blame on you. Sorry, it is what it is.
