Free Agent Female squash stars furious after getting vibrators as tournament prize

I filled in on a City men's Softball team for one game when I was back in town on leave from the Navy (way back). They were the raining State Champions that year or maybe the previous year. Geez I sure picked the wrong time to fill in! They were playing a woman team, the World Champions running for several years.
Portland Oregon's Irv Lin Florists, Women's World Champions. Damn! They had two pitchers, Betty Lin Davis and Mazuka. Betty had a wicked high velocity curve ball, and Mazuka had a bazooka for an arm. Just so damn fast that no one on the men's team got more that an occasional peace of the ball.
I thought it was cool, those ladies were really phenomenal. The ump called the game, "no contest" when we went down 5 to nothing. It was charitable.

If the squash teams don't like the prizes then maybe they should put more care into who is running/sponsoring the event and not participate in those they believe could have controversy?

Or Crest to provide a case of toothpaste?

All things must be considered before claiming sexism, racism, etc. The fact this was endorsed and sponsored by a company that produces sex toys either should have raised the women's eyebrows and they could have inquired prior to entering.

Fair enough. I think there really isn't a right or wrong on something like this, more of a .. "both sides are a bit ignorant" type of issue and its 100% opinion based as to how insulting it is.

The teams should have paid more attention to who was the sponsor and inquired about such potential things that might offend them.

The sponsor should have taken the day and age into account before just handing things out. Even if they felt it was okay, they should run the possible outcomes, prior to giving out the awards and how potential backlash could ensue, if they receievers were insulted, rightly or not.

To me, almost not newsworthy, but will be made a bigger deal than it is, because social media and the public in general, loves to fixate on opinion based offenses in an ever increasingly sensitive society, instead of the things that are a clear and present danger to ourselves, our families and our freedoms.

But this is the key. Should we live our lives walking on thin ice trying to avoid insulting people on every corner of every turn, or do we just live our lives and let those who feel insulted let us know and respect that and try to avoid it in the future?

I know I have been brought up to be aware of others' feelings and do unto other's etc. But as I get older, I see more and more people being more and more offended about things, I personally think are ridiculous. where is the line drawn where the offended is out of line vs the offender, because what the offended finds insulting is not rational?

For example. i'm dealing with my father's drinking, which is getting over the top. We had a text exchange the other day when I was at work and one of his texts came to me as " Do you cars?"

I responded, " You aren't really making sense."

He didn't respond. Instead when I came home and had forgotten about it and sat down to talk to him about his brother who had visited him earlier in the day, he told me he was insulted that I had told him he doesn't make sense. I said "that insulted you???????"
He had obviously been fuming over it all day.
I had to walk away because I could tell he was drunk and no matter what I said, it wasn't going to go well.

Now alcohol has an obvious factor in my scenario, but regardless, there are people who are irrationally insulted in today's world and there has to be a point to draw the line and say, you know what? I don't care. You are being irrational.

I've seen too many backstabbers before to get involved in that. I worked with two guys who were friends but got heated with each other and talked shit for years.

The lead engineer in our office talked her into stealing the calendar off her dad's office wall and gave it to us. They do make excellent tools. Oh, and their calendars were entertaining also.

Actually, I, an experienced engineer doing some important work on a battle vehicle used in the first Gulf War, was assigned to drop what I was doing and assist her on her senior project. The hell with that shit. I just ignored it and completed my task on a very important tank killer vehicle. I think the president's name was Staley. He's probably long since retired so he can't be blamed for any decline that may have happened. I think he must be in his 80s.
I also recall that they had an Indy race car and driver they maintained. We even got to see the backup race car and their driver, Roberto Guerrero. They brought the car and driver right to our plant in Ferguson. That was part of our Engineers' Club of St. Louis. We got to see a lot of cool stuff because all engineers at Emerson Electric.
I goofed, Emerson did not own Snap-On, they owned Ridgid Tools which made the tools sold by Sears, Roebuck and Company. I just looked it up and refreshed my memory.

One of my former coworkers had 2 snap on clocks with topless women on them. One of them had what I considered maybe a 5 out of 10 setup.
