Ferry interested in Portland

Brian Berger's source said Ferry isn't interested because of his kids' schools. I only believe what Brian Berger says.

Maybe Ferry finally read up on Jesuit?

Or knew about it, but only recently converted to Catholicism?

Am I the only one that is skeptical about Ferry? He couldn't get it done with arguably one of the best players in the league.

Well, it's not necessarily the GM's job to take the court and win games. I honestly feel they had the pieces to win a Championship, but the players under-achieved when it mattered the most.

Was it Ferry's fault though? Is Doc Rivers a better coach than Jerry Sloan?

Ferry traded shit and added pieces around Lebron. Lebron had the ear of the owner, and dictated what he wanted. Ferry got that without really giving up a lot. Portland fans would have been ecstatic if we could have added Shaq, Jamison and Williams for Mills, Blake and Claver. I mean he really didn't give up a lot.

Playoffs is all adjustments made by the coach, and Mike Brown sucked as a coach

do we really want this guy, didn't he put together the cav's team as it is? He probably only got Lebron because they were so awful and he's from cleveland. (that is not capitalized on purpose because that town doesn't deserve it.)

That's impossible. Brian Berger said he wasn't interested.

I'd also like to add: Ahem. Danny Ferry?

LOLZ! What an electric hire that would be!!!!!!

Welcome to the Titanic everyone. The biggest most hugest ship the world has ever seen!!!!!!!

I'd be curious to know what, in your eyes, makes Ferry so much worse than KP?

I'd rather live in Cleveland than Lake Oswego and I've lived in both.

Ferry was constantly under pressure from ownership and LeBron to make deals to keep "The King" happy. I have a feeling some of those trades wouldn't have went down if LeBron was locked up a long-term deal and they weren't held hostage by his free agency situation.

Even if you aren't blown away by any of his trades, he has a great track record of getting talent back without giving up much in return other than expiring deals. That's more than you can say for KP.

Brian Berger said Ferry thinks Portland's private schools aren't as good as Cleveland's. Ergo, no way is Ferry coming here. LOL Someone from Cleveland thinks Portland's schools suck. I love this.

Why didn't Ferry have any good assets to work with? Does he suck at drafting? We were able to pick up some relatively valuable assets deep in the first round.

Then we need to make sure to keep Buchanan/Born to ensure that we continue to draft well, while letting Ferry handle the deal-making. It's a team effort, right?

If they were largely responsible for how we drafted, then yes. I don't claim to know how much credit or responsibility each person, including KP, should have been given for the way we drafted.

You forgot the sarcasm smiley.

Yes, What a brilliant coach.

It's not Doc Rivers fault he's not 79 years old yet.

I don't thin kFerry's assets are any worse than KP's? Apparently KP couldn't move the best trade chip in the history of the NBA without adding Batum to it, so they must not have been that great.

Is it your opinion that the players on a team don't have any influence on the success of the team? A team's success is purely based on the coach?

Sloan had one of the best power-forwards in the history of the game and one of the best point-guards at the same time for 15 years or so - and still did not win a ring.

Sloan is a very good coach, but he is not all-world class, imho.

I guess we'll just disagree about the bolded part then. If you replace Lebron with anybody other than the best player in the world, or Kobe, that team doesn't make any noise, IMO.

I agree that Sloan is a very good coach. I'd probably put him even a bit higher than "very good", and top 3-5 in the league currently.

However, I don't put Doc Rivers anywhere near that level. From what I could tell, Boston was coached just as much by Garnett, Allen and Pierce as it was by Doc Rivers.

I think Lebron is probably as valuable as Roy and Aldridge combined, so IMO they are about equal. But I see your point

No it's a combination. Are you under the impression Sloan hasn't been given enough time to get it done?

There's not a single coach in the league who's been given more chances with 1 team than him.

Either you do or you don't. And he don't.

Please show where I mentioned anything about "time" in my post related to Sloan. Otherwise, nice strawman.
