Ferry interested in Portland

Please show where I mentioned anything about "time" in my post related to Sloan. Otherwise, nice strawman.

I'm asking you what he's done to be considered a great coach.

All I can see is that he's stock piled regular season wins over 357 seasons. Who fucking cares?

You write the above...

after writing this to me earlier:

Is it your opinion that the players on a team don't have any influence on the success of the team? A team's success is purely based on the coach?

Where did I say players don't have any influence on the success of the team? Yet I still answered your question "Otherwise, nice strawman."

So the Stache is better than both Malone and Stockton? I mean afterall, he's won rings.

In all seriousness, I think it takes more than one coach, one GM, or one player to win. I don't think it's fair to those that haven't won to say they are less of a player for not winning the title. Especially when Jordan was playing.

Sloan had arguably 2 of the Top 25 players in NBA history for what, 15 seasons? He made the NBA Finals twice, winning zero.

He's the poster child for a coach who can't take a team over the top. If people want to bash McMilllan for not being that guy, they should be bashing Sloan as well.

:)

It would be nice to be speculating about sign-and-trades, wouldn't it, instead of which failed retread GM will take over for Pritchard?

Definately. I think that will come soon enough though. I really would be shocked if we didn't have somoene in place by next week. The search didn't start Monday, Miller's input did. I think they have their guys, and will move quickly. All the while trying not to strike out too many times so it gets out that no one wants the job.

FER FUCKS SAKE!!!!

Nobody is talking about players you mellon. This is coach vs. coach

What color is the sky in your world?

I'll be ecstatic, and quite frankly shocked, if Nate even gets us to the finals.

I think most feel that Jack Ramsey is a great coach, and he only won 1 championship. And a certain redhead probably had more to do with that than he did.

Coaches coach players. without great players, you don't have great coaches. Phil Jackson doesn't win 30 games coaching the Knicks last year. Does that all of a sudden make him a bad coach? If you want to talk about which coach was better, you have to talk about the players they had, and had to coach against

And I can't help you with your lack of basketball knowledge or if you haven't ever been able to watch the Jazz play. It's probably easier for your to wrap your head around looking at simple numbers (how many championships) and trying to determine which one is bigger. I'll leave you to that.

Are you really putting McMillan in the same category of coaching as Sloan?

You can't give me a single reason why Sloan > Rivers, so you insult me. Brilliant.

Simple numbers? So championships don't count. Regular season victories piled up over years and years and years do. Got it.

Again, It's not Doc Rivers fault he hasn't been a head coach for 97 years. Someday he will have. As for now, I can only go by what he's done so far which is better than anything Sloan has ever done.

I would in the sense that I wouldn't want either one of them within 1000 yards of my team.

We don't need Jerry Sloan to lose in the 1st or 2nd round every year. We already have Nate for that.

Ferry is interested in Portland, so I guess the logical direction of this thread is to discuss Jerry Sloan's resume. Those two topics are so closely connected. How wonderful.

Danny Ferry would be a very uninspiring hire.

There we go. Back on track.

Brian Smith is going to be on The Game at 2:00 to talk about the Danny Ferry situation.

Smith seemed to think it was going to end up his to turn down.

I hadn't heard the Larry Miller interview from the MSP until they just replayed it. That was very interesting

Ferry is under contract until July 1. Brain Smith said Ferry wasn't going to say much until then.

Why did I think Ferry resigned already? Oh that's right because he did. How in the hell is he still under contract? Are they still paying him for some reason?

They probably meant that he told the owner he does not want his contract extended.

Listened to the interview.. someone said Mike Dunleavy was contacting Blazer officials. Dunleavy vs. Ferry, who you got?

Top Blazer insider Brian Berger already told us he is out. It's not going to happen.

Is this "joke" getting old yet?

I have no real confidence Ferry would be good or great, but I have every confidence Dunleavy would not be. Anyway, Portland/Tigard already has a Scholls Ferry road - so I think this one is already decided...

I'll give you a hint. His last name isn't Dunleavy.
