Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne said in an interview with Automotive News published on Monday that General Motors should stop ignoring the financial benefits of a merger of the two automotive giants.
GM, the largest automaker in the United States, is not interested in a merger with FCA, Automotive News said, citing executives at the corporation.
The financial markets, however, are not going to continue to ignore the potential of a merger that could yield "cataclysmic changes in performance," Marchionne said.
