I get some people like every shiny new thing, like spraying children with DDT in the 1950's or Thalidomide for pregnant women. Hey it's new it must be good and anyone questioning it is a Luddite holding us back from our Brave New World!
So perfect and so Portland. For us old timers, anyway. Could do it before introductions, after a critical timeout when they want to crowd to make noise. So perfect.I so want to see an enormous Tom Peterson appearing from the bottom and knocking on the court bellowing, "Wake up! Wake up!"
$2.5MM for the "good" version while you've got homeless encampments within miles of many arenas.
Not to get political on this board, but I disagree with this. They are homeless because the voting population wants them to suffer for their sins. That's it.
The game would be so much better if they went back to peach baskets, leather basketballs, and no access to the games. The good old days.
If you took me liking the court as saying all change is good, then that must mean you think all innovation is bad, right?
No, I'm saying your take is wrong, this is a pox and that just because something is new and people don't like it, doesn't mean that those people who don't like it are Luddites resisting good change. They might just see something you don't, in this case horrific epilepsy triggering level flashing lights, and endless distraction and advertisements which will make the experience worse for everyone but advertisers.
I was using those examples to push back on your condescending "those who don't like it are stuck in old ways that are holding us back" as though that's a fact, and not like, just your opinion...Dude.
Take one: oh that's cool.
Take two: No, sir, I don't like it.
Take three: As long as it's static when the ball is in play, eh, who cares.
Hate this court. Hate it and your actual quote seems to strongly imply the fake quote I used namely that “Change is hard for people though, so I get the push-back.” Which reads to me as very condescending as though people who don’t like it are merely resisting change and don't have say, very legitimate reasons for disliking it. I cannot possibly overstate how much I hate this and its not because its “change” its because its a horrible ugly eye sore of a change which certainly means even more invasive ads as though we didn’t already Have enough of those. Any positives can easily be achieved with current tech and the downsides seem to me, quite extreme. If I misread you due to my horror at this prospect coming to the NBA, then my apologies.I'm not sure why this is appears to have upset you. I'm also unsure why you felt the need to attribute a fake quote to me to make your point. However, here we are.
It's 100% ok if you don't like the court, I'm fine with that. If you think your opinion is right and my opinion is wrong, thats ok. Nothing personal on my end.

Maybe, but this thing makes me literally physically ill looking at it. I don't mean I don't like it, I mean it makes me feel nauseous because it's just too much info and too distracting. It completely takes away from the action on the court.I'm cool that you don't like the court.
The previous quote you posted was not what I said, but I understand how the actual quote may have been how it read in your head; combined with the fear of the court being implemented. I can assure you that I did not mean it to imply that each and every person who doesn't like the court is only doing so because they don't like change. On the flip side, I think there are plenty of examples of a proposed change that has great opposition, but in time, people end up liking it.
I'm guilty of this myself.
I believe there are safety reasons for not using this floor.
There is no way this floor will reduce player injuries.
However, the added distraction during a fast paced game has the potential to increase player injuries.
The only benifit for using this floor is to fatten someone's wallet.

My apologies again I was horrified when I saw this and thought of the ads, and flashing lights and nonsense when I want to watch a game. Also, the hardwood is a part of the magic of Basketball IMO, remember the parquet at the Garden and Bird using it to mess with other players pushing them to dead spots (I can see how that's an argument against to some, but I love that)? Remember how they cut up the floor of the Colosseum and gave season ticket holders patches of the wood? It's part of the game. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
No I did not, I was mad jealous of people who got pieces of the sacred Championship floor! All good... I get it's not for everyone.
Did you get some for the floor from the MC? I wasn't a season ticket holder back then. A cool gift for sure!
Me too!No I did not, I was mad jealous of people who got pieces of the sacred Championship floor!

Agreed.1 & 3 for me.
I don't think it'll be active during games. Nobody would like that. Certainly not in a distracting wayI believe there are safety reasons for not using this floor.

Yeah, I wouldn't like it if it were a distraction during competitive play.IF!
The graphics are totally shut off during game play. And a normal floor design is shown, I agree with you.
HOWEVER!
The video in the OP clearly shows active graphics during play.
PLUS!
The video clearly states the led light show is reactive to game play.

As long as they move the 3pt line back a few inches right before the opponents take shots near the line, I'm all for active graphics!
