Let's be honest...... I'm not even sure that team would win a championship in the NBA.

What’s the starting five there?

Walker
Mitchell
Middleton
Tatum
Turner

Is probably the stronger. Or maybe Fox in place of Walker would be a better fit. A strong 5 but I’m not sure if it would be the best in the league.

They’d be damn good in regular season with that bench though.

It would be a pretty good team and one of those competitive in the west groups.

After handfuls of stars bowed out of Team USA, the team before heading out to play Spain this weekend was destroyed 36-17 in a scrimmage with a G league team coached by Jeff Van Gundy and led by guard John Jenkins.

Team USA:

Kemba Walker
Jaylen Brown
Mason Plumlee
Donovan Mitchell
Marcus Smart
Harrison Barnes
Kyle Kuzma
Brook Lopez
Khris Middleton
Jayson Tatum
PJ Tucker
Myles Turner
De'Aaron Fox
Joe Harris
Derrick White

There’s already a FIBA World Cup thread, and this has already been posted there.

Kind of agree. I wonder if they would be able to beat the very best teams in a seven game series. What i do see is a very very deep team that might win because on any given night or for any injury they would have a replacement. They could be very healthy for the playoffs. But other than that they might not be able to beat a team like the Clippers/Lakers right now? Betting the Blazers would give them a run also.

Brings back memories of the 1992 dream team. Considered to be the best bb team ever. 11 of the 12 players are in the HOF.

The dream team also lost their first scrimmage against college players. It took a game for them to learn how to play together.

The second scrimmage, the college players never scored a single point.
They have already played the select team twice, and the select team beat them both times, by a greater margin the second time.

Yeah but it's pretty sad that this is the best we could come up with to represent our country.
It's a pretty big, off-season time investment for something that's basically volunteer work. Most of these guys only really have substantial time with their families/friends for 4-5 months a year anyways. The Olympics still has the "cache" of being a big deal and that's more of an ego thing for a lot of the "megastars". So I get why guys aren't really interested in going if you're Harden, James, Curry, etc what do you really gain by going?

I'm glad they got humbled in an exhibition game that's meaningless...will give them something to prove...which over the years team USA hasn't had to do often.

Australia 70 - 90 Canada

Kudos Canada! Physical game, refs were letting a lot go, and Canada realised that early. Australia took three quarters to figure that out. Lazy defence by Australia for much of the game. Lots of rotations, and different lineups by the Australian coach, clearly still trying to figure things out.

Three point shooting, and turnovers were the difference.

3PM/A (%)
Aus - 6/34 (17%)
Can - 13/32 (40%)

TO
Aus - 15
Can - 9

Game 2 is on same time tomorrow.

Are you saying Canada's Scrubbs are better than Australia? :devilwink:

Australian coach just caught a ball heading out of bounds off Canada; possession Australia!

Refs didn’t even notice, Nick Nurse was furious!

Refs are very inconsistent, everyone on both sides getting upset.

It’s going to be a very interesting World Cup.

It's kind of disgusting what's going on with US players. So Fox decided now that his goal is the playoffs? He didn't know it one month ago?

True, but.....

Nike rankings have Spain the #1 team in the FIBA Euro zone. #2 overall behind USA.

Which makes this a very nice win for team USA.

Spain has been pretty consistent all those years, but Serbia should be a level above them currently.

As the ex Blazer and coach of Serbia NT, Djordjevic, said about potentially meeting USA'If We Meet, May God Help Them'

No doubt - they might have the best player in the tournament in BOBAN. All right, Jokic. They're hurt a little by Teodosic being injured, though.

Teodosic looks like he is done unfortunately, he seems like 40 years old..Big miss, but they have Micic to play the point who I believe is better. They play with Jokic/Boban together on court a few mins which is fun!
