Finally!

[Tribute to H2O]

It's been years since we've has a real prescence in the paint. One that can command a double team. But now once again the Knicks have a real post up player. Not capable of commanding a double team perhaps(not yet anyway) but someone who has a pretty good chance of scoring in the low post. This is the second coming of Patrick Ewing. The kind of player that the Knick faithful have been fervently hoping for. The kind of player we hoped Nazr to be but isnt. He has stabilized the Knick position. Thanks to him we now have someone in the post once again calling for the ball. That player is of course Vin Baker!!!....not. We all know I was talking about Michael Sweetney. Ironic isnt it? When Layden drafted him we all thought it was just him and his obsession with undersized powerforwards(Harrington, Weatherspoon, McDyess). But now we all see what this undersized powerforward is all about. When we Knick fans dreamed of having a post up player we always imagined a seven foot center or at least 6'11". But we have us a 6'8" powerfoward whose both powerful and crafty. He boasts an arsenal of post moves that could make Patrick Ewing weep in joy. As a bonus this kid can crash the boards so well he'd make Dennis Rodman proud. As if all of this wasnt enough he has the patience of a veteran, a high basketball IQ and can actually hit free throws. And he can only get better. Thank you Mr. Layden. Sure you ruined the Knicks. Took away the pride and prestige of the 99 Knicks. Paid Shandon Anderson way too much money as well as Howard Eisley. But at least you had the decency to give us a player who will help the Knicks get back that pride, prestige and honor. Things are looking up. As soon as Sweetney starts drawing double teams Houston will finally have someone who can help him get the open looks Peja keeps on getting in Sacramento. I'm calling upon Isiah(even though he isnt listening)to please, please start Sweetney at powerforward and Kurt Thomas at center. It'll be the smartest thing you did in a long time. We'll have our two best rebounders in the game at the same time and be able to call upon still another great rebounder JYD off the bench. We'll have a post up player and a big man with a jumpshot in at the same time. Things will be great. The Knicks are on their way to a very good looking season. They have the chance to go all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. This team reminds me of the 99 Knicks. This team is their way to meet their destiny. All thanks to an undersized powerforward named Michael Sweetney.

I stopped reading after that 'second coming of Patrick Ewing' statement. What a slap in the face to Patrick Ewing. Sweetney hasn't done anything to be called the next Kurt Thomas let alone the next Pat Ewing and need I remind you Sweetney is not a center.

Well said, Dre. But he HAS shown he can be called the next KT, but then again they have 100% different games. If you're talking about the name of KT, than it's different, but if you mean game-play and style, potential etc. Then Sweetney can easily be called the next KT. But I agree with the Ewing thing.

The thing I like most about Sweetney is the way he draws fouls. He is a decent freethrow shooter which is a great way to be depedable on offense. With Sweetney developing he is going be big for the Knicks. I think it is too early to compare him to Ewing though, In a sense he still is a rookie. In his prime he might put up similar numbers as him. This is a good trio with Steph the penetrator, Allan the shooter, and Sweetney the post presence. I hope we can get the same Allan before his injuries. I heard that he will lose his lift on his shot due to the injury.

^He's not really a decent free-throw shooter, a little beneath decent. Also he won't be great until he develops a baby jumper, no strong signs of that yet. He's got it all going for him, it's a matter of applying effort.

Well I didnt say he was Patrick Ewing just yet. I'm just really optimistic(or insane). Hope that doesnt bother anyone. I've just really been hoping for a post up player for such a long time. And now that I have one....I really want cry. I'm sure Ewing doesnt take too much offense. And I did say that Sweetney was a powerforward. Houston will always be at the very least a top five shooter. Last season when he played he shot 43% from three point land. He should be healthier than last season. Providing he isnt involved in any bad collisons he should play around the same level he played before he got injured. Sweetney is a good free throw shooter. I'm surprised when he does miss free throws. I think he's 80%. Dont forget about Crawford either. He's inconsistent but when he's got it going he's got it going.
