Ainge is 62...and he had a bad heart attack not long ago....knowing what that's like having gone through it myself, I wouldn't want that guy as a GM....his heart attack was his reason for retiring....no late night phone calls, etc.....a bum ticker takes anyone out of the running for a high stress job like being a sports GM. If the GM is replaced I'd want a Grant Hill or Chauncey Billups type who have the energy to run an NBA franchise and have some youth on their side as well..I wouldn't hire anyone Danny's age with his condition....

Most of my good friends are in Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island. They are die hard Celtics fans. Not one of them is upset about losing Ainge. He did some good things, but he also didn't manage/handle things all that well. Gordon Hayward walking away for nothing, Kemba for Rozier, turning down Myles Turner, and a bunch of questionable picks. He nailed Tatum, and got Jaylen Brown.

with his condition you conveniently didn't highlight....I'm 67 with heart problems.....last thing I am is an ageist.....seniors with heart issues need to retire in my view especially from high stress jobs...hell Lamarcus retired for the same reason in his mid 30s...not sure what point you're trying to make about my post but yours lacked context

He's already said he's been trying to retire since his heart attack...reinventing his role now wouldn't seem plausible to me. The Celtics have fallen a bit really since his heart attack...I'd say these things are connected.

Boston had their best records of the past decade with Kyrie at the helm; they just ran into a Bucks team that studied them, and was better for round 2 (See what MIL did to MIA the 2nd go around...).

Speaking of Kyrie, found it odd how Kyrie, KD, and Harden all have 2022 player options...

Ehhhh...Just dreaming a bit over here. I am all for buying titles, screw loyalty in a business; no such thing.

If Ainge came on board, I would like to see him as the president of basketball operations and he brings in a young GM like Shane Battier... obviously a new coach as well... oh and move CJ. Yeah bottom line is that I don't want him to be our GM because I want knew blood in both our GM and head coach.
