It's Quinn's fault that he forgot to tell Georgiev to keep his 5 hole shut when that #87 guy has the puck, another soft goal loss but at least they picked up a point. I thought Kappo played one of his better games last night but honestly Mel, if the Rangers take 4 penalties, it's going to cost him minutes. K'Andre was on PK and #13 on PP last night because they earned it. It's like telling your boss that if you pay me more I'll work harder, I don't see the level of effort in Kappo and I'm sure the college coach sees the same. Joe Mich said it best about Blackwell - he's on the ice for 11-12 minutes a game but you notice him every shift. That's how Miller and #13 are playing too. Kappo's only 19, the fact he's playing NHL games is all that matters. CK finally woke up and played a great game so of course the refs had to put him in the box while missing several high sticks by Pitt. The PP needs to shoot the effin puck more, too much perimeter passing.

You could have argued for Kreider to lose some ice time prior to last night's game. But aside from him I agree. Between the following 5 players pick who goes on the third line...Buch, Panarin, Laf, Kakko, Kreider.

CK needs to come out of the top 4 wingers. I don't know how else to put it. If you don't think Kakko is going to develop into a top elite player, then trade him now. If you are keeping him he has to be top 6. Quinn said it himself that he has a short patience for kids, if they make a mistake he moves them down, but he treats veterans differently, meaning, he gives them more time to correct their mistakes because they paid their dues. It is soooo stupid and wrong. Quinn actually said it, and his actions prove those words.

It is not on coach that Giorgiev played like shit last night, but it is on him for rotating them. If you remember Lundqvist needed time to get going, but he had to play multiple games in a row to get into form. These two are not much differnt. Also in terms of Miller, doesn't the defensive coach makes those decisions for Quinn?

6 penalties killed for 12 minutes of time. #13 and Gauthier are not on PK so they see less ice time. Gauthier didn't help his case taking an incredibly bad penalty in the 3rd. Getting more than anyone could have imagined from Blackwell, Rooney and DiG is another example of that darned Quinn luck. Also Fox and Lindgren succeeding in spite of Quinn has been another lucky break. The man clearly has a future as a professional gambler after he's run out of town for not taking the youngest team in the NHL to the Cup.

Mel, they need adequate backup guys like Rooney, DiG and Blackwell instead of McKegg, Haley, Nieves, I think the former are a huge upgrade on the latter. If those 3 are taking time from Kappo because at this stretch of the season they're playing better it's understandable because they have a little more NHL experience and they're 27 but I expect Kappo to close the gap quickly,t to complain he was shorted a few minutes seems petty considering the grand picture. The whole coach hate thing also glosses over the plethora of great things going on with this team. I've been posting with dump and a few others for 20+ years and most seasons there has been little to be excited about. Finally the Rangers get a #1 and he's right in the lineup with an unprecedented number of #1s playing alongside him but I shouldn't get too excited because the coach needs to be fired. I think if God dropped a few posters into the garden of Eden they would immediately draft a list of complaints - "but God, we love apples!".

Sounds like Kakko will be on a line with Panarin and Strome tomorrow night. That should make the Quinn haters happy. Although I'd guess you'll come up with some other reason to hate him after the game.

Chuck, we are not Quinn haters. I think panz put it best. We finally have #1 and #2 picks, which are very hard to get obviously. The objective of this season is not to win games, but to develop talent and figure out who is staying. Kakko and LAF has to play on the 1st two lines. When the coach says his leach is short with the younger players, and he doesn't care where they were drafted that automatically makes us not trust him.

The lines should be:

LAF - Zib - Buch
Pan - Strome - Kakko
Krider - Chytyl - Gauthier
Doesn't matter

If you want to mix up the top 6 somehow, that's fine. Maybe change Buch with Kakko, or maybe bring Buch down and try Gauthier on the first line to help Gauthier, that's fine too. The objective is to develop talent, not allocate minutes based on their play from the previous night. As dump mentioned, Hughes plays on the 1st line in NJ and I am sure he makes mistakes.

It's not like Quinn is AV, he switches lines up if they are not effective instead of running the same lines out regardless of their effectiveness. In fact, if you want a perfect example of an incompetent Rangers coach concerning youth development look no further than AV. He stifled the progress of CK and JT Miller with benchings whenever they dared to play with the sack he lacked. And what about Ryan Graves? Again this totally overrated pos AV never gave Graves a sniff of the NHL - 6'5" 220 picked up for nothing by Colorado where he has 32 points in 105 games +36 - talk about an epic failure when you look at the absolute journeymen garbage that gum popping fancy pants chose to play over youth - Kampfer, Holden, Gilmore, Sproul, Summers< Diaz. The Rangers wasted a #1 (in AV's mind) on Dylan McIlrath who was definitely old school but could offer some protection to the finesse players, maybe he's only good enough to play for a bad Detroit team but he's playing. Hard pressed to think of any young player AV helped develop - same knock he had with the talent laden team he failed to win with in Vancouver.

Panzer is correct on that. I said it myself. This team is never going anywhere until Kakko and Lafreniere are developed. Kakko like Zibanejad has the rare ability to one time the puck with tremendous velocity and accuracy. The fact he's not on the number 1 PP on the right wing is a disgrace. A perfect example of the incompetence of Quinn. Gauthier being scratched for several games is also a disgrace. He hasn't played nearly as poorly as 4 or 5 vet forwards on this team who never get scratched.

So your big issue 2009 is playing both Kakko and Lafreniere in the top 6 over Kreider. Seems like a bit much to get all worked up over, but okay. Curious if mel will feel the same way about lowering his beloved hopeful C down to the 3rd line.

And bringing up Hughes is ridiculous. It isn't an apples to apples comparison. Do they have the talent on the wings we do? Do they have a Panarin? Hughes is also in year 2, not year 1 like Lafreniere. He wasn't in the top 6 all season last year for NJ. And Lafreniere has been in the top 6 virtually all season for us.

Look, someone has to play on the 3rd line. That's just reality considering the W's we have. When it was Kakko paired with Chytil, that was a very good duo. Chytil got hurt and it hurt the 3rd line. With that said, we are still in the same spot on the W. Tonight Kakko gets his shot with Panarin and Strome. Let's see what he does with it. I hope he has a big assertive game.

As for PP1, Fox, Kreider, Panarin, Buch, Ziban. Who comes off for the "disgrace" that Kakko isn't on? Again, you demote Kreider? Interesting all you "fans" who wanted to give Kreider a big money long term deal now want him on the 3rd line and PP2. Money well spent if that were the case.

Once again simply you all just finding something to whine about. As panzer said, if you were in the Garden of Eden you'd say yeah, but I love apples...it's a disgrace I cannot eat them...fire god...LOL.

Chuck, you are missing the point. It doesn't matter how many wings we have or NJ don't have. This year is not about improving Quinn's resume, but it is about building super-talented players who come along once every 50 years. Quinn switches lines every game now, and he is basing it on the previous night's performance. If we are chasing a cup and the objective is to find ways to win games, then yes, you do put a lifetime AHLer if he helps win that game. But this season is not about winning games, the main objective is to develop these amazing picks that we got. We won the lottery two years in a row, and Quinn is not using such luck to its full potential.

Yeah, Krider can come out of the top 6. Krider made his money already and he shouldn't be upset, plus it helps to balance out the lines. He will help talented finess players like Chytil since Krider's size and speed creates space.

Buch comes out 1st PP unit. That is easy. Just watch Kakko on PP, he is so smooth, his passes are sharp and like dump pointed out he has rare talent to one time the shot. Buch messes up the momentum of the PP often, and even when he doesn't, I see him as the weakest player on the PP.

Also, Gauthier is practically the same as Kreider, let him develop also. It is a disgrace what Quinn has done with Gauthier. We gave up a very good D-man who actually could have helped us now that De'Angelo is gone, but Quinn is using Gauthier as a 4th liner with Howden, who is awful by the way. I cannot watch Howden play. He is slow, doesn't have great hands, is not good on PP, can't win a board battle, and on his ass often.

Quinn is a college coach and he is treating these kids as if they are still in college.

I think this is all nit-picky over the top stuff. Kids have developed under Quinn. As panzer said, there is a method to Quinn's approach regarding line changes. I think many of you are just reaching and looking for scapegoats, and I'm not even sure why considering this was never going to be a year we were winning big or expected to make a long playoff run.

On top of that, I just don't know how it is possible for Quinn to win with some of you. Lafreniere has been in the top 6 virtually all season - not good enough. Kakko was paired with Chytil, which was a very successful duo prior to Chytil getting hurt - not good enough. Miller in top 4 playing great - not good enough. Buch has clearly developed under Quinn - not good enough. Chytil has clearly developed under Quinn - not good enough. Fox has clearly developed under Quinn - not good enough. Lindgren has clearly developed under Quinn - not good enough. We lose and he gets ripped - OMG team is awful cannot win with him. He wins not good enough if player X doesn't get enough minutes or play on PP1, because the season is about growth not wins.

Bottom line is Quinn cannot win with some of you because all you want to do is whine, complain, and point fingers at whomever the coach is (Renney, Torts, AV, now Quinn).

As for Gauthier, he was traded for Joey Keane. He isn't even in the NHL currently, so not sure I'd say he's a very good dman considering. And can Gauthier play on the 3rd line instead of the 4th line, sure that can happen, but again that is nit-picky stuff.

Quinn has been fine as our coach. We'll see where it goes with him once we are ready to win.

Another example would be the Knicks. Thibs has done an amazing job. He's developing RJ. He's developing Quickley. However, he still needs to do a much better job developing Odi. However, he realizes that these young players are the key to building a contender. Quinn does not. He's pretty much proven he's a retard. He no longer is committed to rebuilding which tells me he's scared shitless about his job.

The right tone struck by Quinn on Kakko:

Kakko is better in paying attention to detail. He has been more diligent in his work off the puck and in the defensive zone. That is reflected by a fairly dramatic improvement in his peripherals, albeit in a very small sample size.

The winger’s Corsi is 53.89 percent as opposed to his rookie mark of 43.62. His on-ice shot share is 57.14 as opposed to 43.76. He’s been on for three goals for and three against as compared to last year’s hellacious 16 for and 40 against. Kakko’s xGF is 48.73 vs. last season’s 39.29. Right - like Lindgren, Fox, Buch, and Chytil all didn't develop under Quinn. Miller has been put in a top 4 role on D pretty much from the start under Quinn. And Hughes is in a different situation. First he is year 2, not year 1 like Lafreniere (he did not play this much in year 1). Second, he is a C not a winger (that matters for ice time). And third, he is also on a team that has less talent. The Rangers have very good top 6 talent on the wings. Once again who drops down and plays less to give Kakko/Lafreniere big minutes? Kreider? Panarin? Maybe our best forward Buch? Who drops to play both guys in the top 6?

Once again this is made up nonsense being pushed by the typical fans who call for the coaches head every 2 years like clockwork. Renney, Torts, AV, and now Quinn. Rinse and repeat.
