This excerpt from a January 31, 1939, broadcast of the radio program "We the People" hosted in New York by Gabriel Heatter is believed to be the only known audio recording of Naismith.

Dr Naismith said:
“Well I didn’t have enough [rules], and that’s where I made my big mistake. The boys tackling, kicking and punching in the clinches. They ended up in a free-for-all in the middle of the gym floor. Before I could pull them apart, one boy was knocked out, several of them had black eyes, and one had a dislocated shoulder. It certainly was murder.”

I Wonder if this story was the idea behind arch rivals?

Damn it, you gave me away!

Imagine today's nba players shooting/dunking at peach baskets. Does not compute.

I say let them go till one falls then break it up. Hockey fights. These aren't kids playing.
