QUOTE (lukewarmplay)

Who do I pm my picks to, since peg and KC aren't around?
Just send the picks to Cpaw, all the "I'm picking for so-and-so" moves need to be run by him anyway.

1981 Celtics, 1987 Lakers, 1988 Lakers, 1989 Pistons, 1990 Pistons, 1991 Bulls, 1992 Bulls, 1993 Bulls, 1996 Bulls, 1997 Bulls, 1998 Bulls, 2004 Pistons, 2006 Heat

46.4% of the champions since 1980 have won without a superstar big men. You do not need the superstar big man. That is one of the biggest fallacies among basketball fans. You can definitely win with a good perimeter core, with no legendary big men, and win the championship, as proved time and time again. There is no one way to build a championship team.

The Celtics had Robert Parish. The Lakers had Kareem. The Pistons had Laimbeer/Mahorn/Rodman. The Bulls had Michael Jordan, exception. The 04 Pistons had Big Ben & Sheed. The Heat had Shaq.

All of those teams were still exceptional inside, with the exception of the Bulls. No legendary big men?????? Robert Parish, Kareem, Shaq. You're just talking out of your ass. Laimbeer/Mahorn/Rodman were an an above-average frontcourt, not to mention Aguirre & Dantley.

Robert Parish/Shaq were just good those years. Allstar caliber, yes. Robert Parish was never a legendary big man. Shaq was with his time with the Lakers, but when he won it with the Heat was diminished from that superstar, can build a team round him status.

I guess you guys just look at the NAMES, and not what they actually did. Yes, some of these guys (Shaq, Kareem, Aguirre) were superstars, build your team around them, won championship that way guys. But in the years that I listed, they clearly were not. Kareem was in the Shaq/Parish category above in that first one, and then wasn't anywhere close to that on the last Lakers championship team there.

Pistons/Bulls, they had good players in their frontcourt (Rodman x2, Laimbeer, Aguirre, Wallace x 2) but no superstar big men.

The idea that you need a superstar big man is completely false. It definitely does work (Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan) but its not a requirement to have a championship team.

It will soon be my pick!

And my guy is still available!

He was picked 25th, not 9th

What I like about Marbury and Curry is how they are winners that make their teammates better.
