Thoughts on my team?

Billups

Giricek

Posey/Maggete

JO

Nene/Nesterovic

Not sure what Giricek's doing on the team, let alone in the starting line-up. Outside of that, it seems pretty solid. I actually like the way it all fits together. It's going to be tough to pick up a bench of any signifigance, tho.

Giricek is practically my only option at sg currently(Maggete and posey cant), but he is good at what he does best-shooting. Hopefully benching Maggete would help my bench scoring. Got enough of that in the starting unit. Also, if i draft sg who can shoot and defend effectively this late in the draft, then Giricek could find himself on the bench.

He is best utilized as a 3. He is not quick enough to guard the sg spot, and he is a bit tall for that position(6'7-6'8).

Edit: And voila! I found a sg who could guard and shoot in Eddie Jones; which leads Giricek going to the bench, giving it a nice shooting touch.

Posey and Maggette at small forward and Eddie Jones and Gordon Giricek at shooting guard? Your two best wing players are not going to receive more than twenty six minutes. A wing player is a wing player is a wing player. Play Mags at shooting guard.

Starting Posey and Eddie over Maggette makes no sense.

The thing with Maggete is that he wont be as effective with the other players in the starting lineup. Billups and JO are going to get their touches, and Nene is there to pick up their misses. Jones and Posey provide defense and will hit the open shot unlike maggete. Maggete is very talented offensively and will get his touches from playing with the bench.

I still have a lot of moves to make in order to make this team gel. Currently, i must admit that my team is a bit of a mess at the wing positions. As you already pointed out, Maggete would at the least be playing 26 minutes per game with this team. But i can still make some moves to clear things up.

But right now, defensively speaking, my team isnt half bad. Posey, Billups and Jones are good defenders that can shoot, and JO and Nene are talented post players who have a nag for blocking shots.

QUOTE (TucsonClip)

Starting Posey and Eddie over Maggette makes no sense.

My reasoning for benching Maggete here so he can work his offense freely with the bench. In the starting lineup, he wouldnt have as much freedom to do so. Besides, he would be playing around 25-30 mpg, not around 10-20 like some other players on the bench. But as i stated above, i still have some moves to make to smooth things out at the wing positions. Until i draft some more players for my bench I might just bench Posey instead.

Does anybody think the last-picked team could find it's way into the top dozen or so?

Baron Davis, Sarunas Jasikevicius

Quentin Richardson, Willie Green

Luol Deng, Carlos Delfino

David Lee, Brandan Wright

Samuel Dalembert, Nazr Mohammed

It'd be a fun team to watch tho, no doubt.

Anyone have a new opinion of my team after I added veteran scorer Corey Maggette?

Foye
Bryant
Maggette/Yi
Rasheed/Antoine Walker
Shelden

i don't have much faith in Shelden at C and Foye at PG. but hey, that's just me.

Not much from the bench. Then again, i dont know a lot about this rookie class, so setting aside Wright, the bench is lacking imo.

Your backcourt is a huge injury risk, and Sarunas hasn't shown that he can play on an NBA level on 2 teams. If everyone stayed healthy, then my presumption would be that it is a playoff team, but that's a huge if, and the bench is pretty crappy.

What do you think of my team.

Its much better than the team Lebron has in real life!

I cant really say how good/bad this is due to the fact i dont really know how good Green and Smith are. Aside from them, the starting lineup isnt bad, but the bench needs more shooting/offense

Btw, how about mine? I know ghoti's opinion already.

I love your team Real. Great veteran leadership and a great big man duo(Duncan/Miller). You got go-to scorers in duncan and Manu.

The frontcourt is also very good defensively. The backcourt is good defensively as well but the frontcourt is better. You have good veteran wings in Hill and Finley. Pavlovic was a great pick up for the bench. Deep bench thus far and it can score AND defend. The starting lineup is very balanced as well with the exception of Ford imo.

My only knocks on your team is the age and that Ford is your pg. Ford is best used on the fastbreak, but looking at the rest of the personnel of your team, their wont be anyone running with him.

you've got a killer frontcourt there. two great passing big men...although it'd be nice to have another great 3 point shooter, but i'm sure you could pick one up soon.

and seems as if there's great defense all-around, with the exception of the PG position, which probably doesn't matter with Duncan down low anyways.

i agree with L, tho, the biggest knock on your team is its oldness.

You have some defensive issues that are mostly solved by Ben Wallace.

If Cassell can give you anything and Wallace stays healthy, you've got a championship contender there.

FWIW, your team would beat Real's team 9 out of every 10.

very impressive. solid at every position, with starters and backup. the only problem i see is Cassel's injury proneness and the lack of a 3rd backup point guard. (i guess that could be John Salmons)

Yeah thats what I picked Salmons for (bigger back up PG for a change of pace), he is primarily a 2 but I can play him at the 1-4, which I love about him.

Perhaps you're confusing Ben Wallace with Ben Wallace of t-2, if the unit of t is years? I can't claim to have seen him much last year, but he seems to have had a steep decline, and that's apart from not being a team player at all at the end with the Pistons. I'd have liked to see a better backup c here.

Your Golden State Warriors:

It's tough when you lose your first round pick for the year, but I really only had him slotted for 20 mpg or so this year. Battier, Simmons, Barbosa and Garbo are all killer shooters from the outside, and I think they'll complement Jefferson nicely. I also think I've got a lot of defensive tenacity on this team, between Simmons, Battier, Garbo, Fesenko, Najera, Thabo and Rondo.

What do you guys think about my chances this year? Did the Oden injury kill all hope?

I didn't realize just how terrible Boris Diaw is until I realized he was struggling to compete in Eurobasket, which is being dominated by the likes of Saras Jasikevicus and Victor Khryapa. Diaw wasn't even the 3rd or 4th best player on his own team. Nash makes everyone around him look 100% better than they actually are, and Diaw doesn't even look that good in Phoenix.

Deron Williams is a great PG though, and should help. You've got a really thin frontline, going off body weight, not depth, so that should make playing defence hard. You better pray that Wright grows by leaps and bounds, because if not, you've got two pretty weak starters. Not a huge fan of your bench either, although I do like Gibson a lot.

You're going to have a lot of trouble competing with Philly, Boston and Toronto in your division. It would be really hard for this team to make the playoffs.

You don't need a real PG with Dunleavy on the floor. He can play with Mo Pete and Salmons and you can run the offense through him.

You won't want to do that for major minutes, but it's fine if the matchups dictate it or you just want to steal some minutes for Felton and Cassell. You have to be cautious with both of them.
