Sabonis is the father of current Indiana Pacer Domantas Sabonis and had a nice career himself in the 1990s and early 2000s. He played seven seasons in the NBA for the Portland Trail Blazers and didn’t start his career in the NBA until he was 31.

He scored 12.0 points and brought down 7.3 rebounds per game. Sabonis was a key member of some competitive teams in the Western Conference, but they were never able to win the NBA Finals with him as a member of the roster. He also was never able to make an All-Star team.

It is a decent career and Sabonis also played internationally before his time in the NBA, but his resume doesn’t add up to make him a Hall of Famer. He should still be remembered for his unique style of play, there are just more deserving players who were left out of the Hall of Fame.

Drazen Petrovic
In one of the more tragic events in NBA history, Petrovic was killed in a car accident when he was just 28 years old. His career in the NBA only lasted four seasons, as he spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and New Jersey Nets.

His time in Portland saw him come off the bench, but he blossomed with the New Jersey Nets. For his career, he averaged 15.4 points per game. He is remembered as being a great three-point shooter. There are a lot of questions of what could’ve been, but Petrovic was reportedly thinking about playing in Greece before his passing.

Petrovic is credited with being one of the trailblazers (no pun intended) who helped pave the way for more European players to enter the NBA. He should be remembered for his great seasons for the Nets, but unfortunately, fans couldn’t see what Petrovic had left to show.

He mentions in his opening that he recognizes sizes the hall of fame covers all of basketball, not just the pros, but then seems to forget that fact with these 2, and just pull up career stats.

His argument only holds water if it's the NBA Hall of Fame, and not the BASKETBALL hall of fame.

And that's why he writes for www.TheGameHaus.com.

The bigger outrage is there are no dogs in the HOF.

All shades of ugly here....

At least he was HOF off the court

SPD had one HOF vote, for the senior tailwagers league.

SlyPokerCat cast the one vote. Wonder who SPC is?

the hall of fame is a bit different as it covers all of basketball and not just the pros

now, knowing the above, let me proceed to list people who i dont think should be in there based on their NBA career.....

Petrovic is an obvious honorary bounce in and I do not have a problem with it since he probably would have made it in on merit alone had his accident had not happened. The rest of the people on his list he has never seen play nor does he have any interest in viewing. He should probably go back to covering Frolf (frisbee golf) and stay there since he has no clue on basketball

Gonna disrespect Petrovic like that...let the dude rip

Still one of the greatest college players I've ever seen. Also, expected Melo's career to be like Glenn's since he got drafted, haven't been very wrong.
He's coaching on the Buck's bench I believe ...

but his resume doesn’t add up to make him a Hall of Famer.

Wow!

I saw Sabas play in Europe several times after he had been selected in the draft by the Blazers. It was also my privilege to watch the man dominate the completion in the 88 Olympics. In my view the man was perhaps the best Basketball player I have ever
watched play the game. And that goes back to the 50s. If you leave Sabas out of the HOF you just don't know shit about Basketball.

At the time of the 88 Olympics, one of my guys was the author of the Olympic scoring system. He always was needed at the Olympic games, so in 88 I went alone as his helper. Not a hell of a lot for me to do so, I watched Sabas play every game.
The Championship game against the USA was quite a show with Sabas at Center for the Ruskies and David Robinson at center for the USA. It was amazing to watch the work Sabas did on Robinson head.

One possession Sabas took a three point shot, missed it but jammed the rebound home with Robinson looking up dumb founded. Soon after on the next possession or close to the next, Šarūnas Marčiulionis got the ball into Sabas on the posts, sort of medium,
not high, not low, where he chucked the ball up on the back board and jammed rebound again with Robinson looking up dumb founded. Down the court, Robinson's gesture to the bench I suppose, :dunno:.

Yeah, the author of that blog is a fucking idiot.

Imagine thinking you are a basketball writer and typing:

Arvydas Sabonis shouldn't be in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Drazen Petrovic shouldn't be in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Anyone can be in any "Hall of Fame". It depends upon the induction committee. Look at the bogus Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They inducted Nat King Cole and the entire genre of rap. How can RnR be associated with rap?

I would call myself a golf writer.

It's true that Lee Westwood has had an amazing European Tour career, but he shouldn't be considered for the golf hall of fame because he's only won twice on the PGA tour and has never won a major.
