We're supposed to get a significant (Izzie) snowstorm here, so I made a big batch of lasagna. Just may be my best effort ever....

Berkeley Bowl market out of fresh squeezed orange juice. Got a bunch of Valencia oranges and started squeezing. Good thing I have strong hands.

Hope you didn't let the wife see your tighty whities the day after eating that.

In and of themselves, the individual components of lasagna are not all that unhealthy. Sure, combined in a jumbled mess paints a different story. ;)

I heard cardiologists from OHSU give a talk to us at the now defunct Metro Fitness YMCA about spaghetti dinners and cardiovascular disease and they said that at that time (the late 70s) studies had shown that a spaghetti was a heart friendly dinner. Their studies used monkeys that were fed different diets and atherosclerosis in monkeys that had autopsies. These plaque clogged arteries were significantly improved by lots of aerobic exercise.

Anyone wanna share some football playoffs snacks recipes?

Layer of refried beans in a flat bottomed baking dish;
Top that with a layer of Emerald Valley salsa;
Top that with a layer of sliced black olives (olive layer and salsa layer may be reversed);
Top that with a layer of shredded cheese;
Bake in oven until cheese is melted;
Top that with a layer of shredded ice berg lettuce;
Warm up some corn chips until just hot but be careful not to burn the chips.
Eat with an ice cold beer, preferably with a Coors banquet to wash it all down.

Hard to beat really good guacamole.

Absolutely! Might you have a preferred recipe? Do you include cumin at all?

My basic recipe includes avocados; chopped green onion; cilantro; chopped roma tomatoes; minced garlic; lime juice; chopped jalapenos; pinch of cumin; salt/pepper

BTW,

GO NINERS!!

They led the league with over 6 yds. per down. They have the perfect ball-control offense to compete with (even beat) the Packers!

A bit of cumin. Avocado, cilantro, garlic, lime, jalapeno, topped with a tomato/jalapeno/onion/ relish. A bit of chili.

My secret recipe, and DON'T let this get out;
avocado and now my secret ingredient - lime juice. Here's the second and perhaps the most secret part, you gotta mash it all up.

Reminds me of this song....

I don't like guacamole totally smooth. Should have texture.

I like to mince some white onion and add that to my guac. Personal preference.

No problem, mash it with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency.

Are you making salsa or guacamole?

I make a garnish of onion, tomato and cilantro.

Sounds like a nice compliment. I have some leftover chili from the other night. Gonna add some chorizo, a bit of rotel, and some spices and create a quazi-nacho base.

Guac's in the fridge, nacho base is still reducing a bit. Getting ready for today's games!

GO TITANS AND NINERS!!
