Barbecue and gleaning yesterday. What I do when garden produces more than I can keep up with. Guests bring containers to harvest kale, bok choy, green beans, basil and others.

Served vegan chili, grilled spice rubbed chicken, grilled vegetable skewers, cornbread, chocolate chip cookies.

The Cake Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum is putting out a special commemorative 35th anniversary edition.

I have a first edition Cake Bible. I was making weekly desserts for an event in Portland until 1990. Later made Blazers cakes until security tightened after 9/11. Nearly all came from Cake Bible. My copy lost its dust jacket years ago. It is in three pieces. The pages are spattered with chocolate, raspberry, egg and who knows what else. I don't want to replace it because all my notes are in the margins.

But if someone sends me a commemorative edition for Hanukah I won't say no. Do you think Lashanna would get it for me?

Pacific Northwest Best Fish Co.

Out in Ridgefield. It’s been around close to 30 years and supplies a lot of the restaurants in the county.
Nice. I always just grab mine from my work. Do you have a favorite? I'm pretty partial to Tidepoints out of Willapa Bay myself.
