Here is a way to kill some time till we actually see some real Blazer news.

Talk about anything food related you want. What you like, don't like, never tried....

I like food pairings. Here are a few of my favorites:

Toasted sourdough/rye with french butter.
Ground turkey patties with lemon pepper and green onions mixed in.
Black coffee and Chessman cookies.
Malbec wine and dark chocolate

Enjoy all shell fish from Crawdads to Abalone.
Ahi sashimi is terrific with warm Saki
Emu is fantastic...

Campfire Juice:
Jamison Irish Whiskey
Knob Creek
High West Rye

Alaskan Amber on occasion

major munchy attack last night, made a midnight run to the 24/7 snack shop. Bought 2 massive Whatchamacallit candy bars. After the fog of sugary chocolate goodness wore off, I was surprised to wake up and find 1 of the Whatchamacallits was unopened and still alive.

I've been on a fish kick of late for some reason:

Last night, I had grilled tilapia with a side of rice and broccoli.

Here shortly, gonna have some fried catfish with a side of okra and corn casserole.

Been having lots of fun and tons of enjoyment eating vine ripe fruits and veggies from our garden.

To say this years harvest is a bumper crop is an understatement. The garden exploded this year.

Even crops I have had trouble growing in the past, such as cilantro and spinach, are growing like weeds.

I have 2 spaghetti squash plants growing so big and fast the neighbors claim they will take over the world. A couple visit them every morning just to marvel at how much they grow every day.

My strawberry harvest was at least 20 times bigger than any past harvest. These are the same plants, in the same place, for the past 7 years. The cherry harvest had similar results.

Everyone asks what I have done differently this year. Only one thing I can think of. It has to do with the compost, which I make myself. Only change was switching from adding Cafe Brustelo coffee grounds to Peet's coffee grounds.

Truthfully, I have no idea why my garden is producing so much this year over past seasons. It appears to like Peet's coffee the best, and so do I. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Garden only in second year so fruit is still sparse. Vegetables abundant. I have been eating in cycles. Artichokes. It's a wonder I didn't grow thorns. Then bok choy. Then green beans. All interspersed with kale and salad greens. Going to have boatloads of tomatoes and later pumpkin.

I had tempura jumbo prawns, toasted hashbrowns and fresh garden salad with oil and vinegar and garlic sauce with sliced yellow peppers. Had grilled trout last night as my son caught some fresh last weekend and gave them to us.

I like meat! With smoke on it.

My favorite foodie memory. My grandma and grandpa use to own a home at the mouth of the Salmon River - north of Lincoln City. Grandpa use to take us out crabbing on the river. He seemed to know the perfect places so we'd go out and drop our nets and then go back to shore and build a big fire on the beach. We'd put on a big pot of water from the river and cook up the crab as we caught them. After we caught our limit we'd take them back to the house and have a big crab feed. We'd sit around and crack and eat crab for hours. Usually afterwords we'd have some fresh baked pie and vanilla ice cream to top off the meal. Good food and good times!

Tilapia isn’t really fish. That’s a farm fish. Has no flavor. Fried catfish is bomb though.

Not trying to start anything with you, just stating.

I made a delivery to World Foods on Barbur yesterday. A whole bunch of milk. Owner asked me what kind of milk I thought it was. I said, goat?

He said, that’s camels milk. It goes quick in here. I asked what it tastes like. He said, ‘breast milk’

hard pass

It's usually loaded with cream, sugar and butter...very unhealthy in general. They'll put a half a stick of butter on a piece of chicken
True of haute cuisine but French Provincial is much healthier, more olive oil than butter and cream. More legumes and vegetables.

Its ok friend, I don't get riled up over something like that haha. Fried catfish is delicious.

Now if someone claims Mel Brooks is not a comedic genius now....that's a whole other thing.

Bouillabaisse was the only meal that consistently stood out to me

I thought most other things lacked flavor or just weren’t as good as I was led to believe “bouef bourguinon”.

As did mine! Her recipe was from an old Lebanese lady that lived in my dad's neighborhood when he was a kid. I have the recipe somewhere at home but the one I posted is pretty similar
I like the stuffed peppers and chick peas, yogurt and feta cheese, pilaf and millet...I have no problem with goat meat as well...I find lots of Middle Eastern food to be wonderful and satisfying.
