Sean Marks joins the Spurs staff and Jared Jeffries takes a scouting position with the Nugs.

It's been known for a long time that scrubs who had to learn every trick to survive make better coaches than stars to whom everything came easily. For example, Phil Jackson and Pat Riley were journeymen.

That Jerry Sloan guy was a pretty good coach.

His Bulls teammates Matt Guokas, Rick Adelman, and Bobby Weiss didn't last as long as coach.

I thought of Sloan and Wooden as I wrote that. I left out Sloan because he was an odd hybrid, a starter due to toughness, not super-smooth silky skills. I left out Wooden because he's an exception to the rule.

In many sports, marginal players make great coaches and great players make lousy coaches.

They should have been good assistant coach prospects last year, but made a cool 1.5M wearing a uniform. Ronnie Price should be on the list as well.

And according to ESPN, he's a better player than Michael Beasley. I saw Beasley dominate the Lakers last year. Never seen Jeffries do anything like that.
