Former Portland Trailblazers forward arrested for coke

why am I surprised I thought it was Kemp

Never played a minute for us right? I know he was injured some of that time but I think POR knew he wasn't great to have around the team (even with all the other problems last year).

wow, that is so sad to see what he has become..

The saddest thing is that it's not really what he's become but rather what he's always been. This has got to be his third or fourth arrest since he was drafted, and he's only 26 years old.

I hope he's saving that first round money, because he's never played up to his potential and is probably starting to look like more trouble than he's worth for a vet's minimum.

Sad to see our tax money being wasted to harass and torture someone whose only problem is a medical/psychological infirmity.

He was harassed and tortured? Are you being sarcastic?

I'd be livid if he weren't arrested. The man was driving around in my community in his obnoxiously tricked out Panamera that's always flying around the area, under the influence, with marijuana and codeine syrup, possibly with the intent to sell it.

Arrested for codeine, not coke. (Originally mistakenly reported as coke bust.)

an officer on a routine patrol claims he smelled marijuana coming from a Porsche Panamera which was parked near a Cricket wireless store. When the cop approached the car, the person inside -- Williams -- reportedly said, "Officer I ain't gonna lie to you, there's a blunt in the car and some syrup." The cop searched the car ... and reportedly found a partially smoked blunt, another blunt that hadn't been smoked, and a bottle of codeine cough syrup (for which he did not have a prescription).

So in our modern police state, you can't have cough syrup in the car. I know I've transported cough medicine from the pharmacy to my sick sister recently.

Any relation to J.R Rider? Another guy with loads of talent with a troubled past.

The article says he didn't have a prescription for the cough syrup, presumably meaning it wasn't an over the counter product.

I know, that's why I quoted the part which told you that. The prescription was for my sister, so I had no prescription for me. Also, there was no written prescription; it was a standing order. I have never heard that it's illegal to have prescription cough syrup in a car without having in your pocket the written prescription for yourself.

Gotcha. I've picked up scripts for my wife on many occasions. If that's illegal, I didn't know it.

Maybe he was dumb enough to say that he had been drinking it?

I would imagine its similar to alcohol in that you can have it in the trunk open, but in the cab you have to have it unused, uncracked. If you had codeine for your sister in the trunk or unopened in your cab, it would likely be fine, but cracked in the cab and you could be charged.

However, my guess is that there is some discresion on the part of the officer, if you are sober and don't have other drugs on you, this will likely be overlooked. Also, if you don't have a history of substance abuse in the court system.

What the hell's wrong with guzzling my sister's tasty cough syrup? I'm visiting you guys today and bringing my bullwhip. Stay right where you are.

codeine syrup is one of the best things in this fucked up world

next time yall get strep throat, tell them you cant swallow pills, or it hurts too much, huzzah
