I tried searching and couldn't not find a Q&A about the forum operations/functionality.

If there is one, please merge and i apologize for the work. If not, I think this is a great thread for people to ask questions about the forum itself. I, for one, have a couple.

First, when it says who's online, its lists guest, members and robots. What the hell is a robot?

Second, I still seem to get emails about threads i'm watching, even though I have never chose to watch a thread.
Denny, I know I harassed you about this on the side, and what you showed me worked for about a week, but then the emails are coming back. (Denny showed me the option to turn off all email updates in my settings) I just delete before paying attention to which thread it is from. Denny, not sidestepping you and I appreciate the help, but didn't want to keep bothering you on the side.

In my profession ( like most I suppose with the ever increasing importance of instant communication) I get hundreds of emails a day and don't want these piling on top of them. How do I turn them off 100%?


Man, Ive been searching now for the second time for about an hour on these and I am gonna feel a fool when someone posts a screen shot of the obvious or something... so I apologize and hang my head in advance.

Okay, So I might have answered the thread following question.question. I see I am automatically watching this thread now and maybe any thread I create I am automatically watching? If so,k that would explain the emails I'm still getting. I will pay more attention to which threads they come from and verify they are the ones I started.

Robots are these things that search thru the site and reports what is written to Google, Yahoo, Bing and the NSA.

For example last night I had mentioned I thought Gary Trent had gotten into a fight one time at Peninsula Park. Zags asked me for more info so I then went and googled Gary Trent Peninsula Park and my post about it is number one in the search results.
