Frank almost never uses Yi coming down in the 4th quarter

In place of Yi so far this season Frank has gone to:

Anderson (a rookie)
Hassell (end of bench guy)
Hayes and/or Dooling preferring to go small ball

Yi rarely plays down the stretch of 4th quarters or overtime.

What does this say about Yi who is suppose to the future PF for the Nets when the coach has absolutely no confidence in him to use in 4th quarter situations on either end of the floor?

Is there another starter in the league right now if used in place of Yi that wouldn't improve the Nets?
 
playing Yi down the stretch could be the worse thing ever.

After watching every game this season, i am being honest, Yi sucks like hell. I rather have Collins. Oh shit did i really say that?

I approve this thread, lets talk more about Yi.
 
YI's too soft both physically and mentally to be playing in the crunch right now. But he's still going to get his opportunities.
 
Yeah, Frank need to play Big Ball in the 4th Q.

Lopez/Boone/Swat/Hayes/Carter. You know, the CPU had put this lineup for me in NBA 2k9. I called a timeout right away to switch.
 
What do you think Wallace would have done to Yi in the 4th??? Thats why frank is a good coach. He might be ordered to start Yi, but he doesn't have to lose games with Yi....

I thought Yi was fine on Wallace. Where was your boy Anderson? You a Boone man now, or just a Yi hater. I'm cool with it. We all hate Yi... say it.

Listen Yi fan i'm a nets fan. Anderson only played 6 minutes and didn't shoot but one time. Anybody is better than Yi. He's not going to get better. He doesn't have a clue, like you.

I hope they trade Yi then you can go follow that team. I want the nets to win and get better, you only want Yi to score basket points or whatever you call them.
 
YI iS the best give him time to play!!!

Iono Yi was pretty clutch in the olympics. He was a better rebounder and defender too so i guess it just hasn't translated yet.
 
look i love Yi, and he has does have a lot of potential, but he is not strong with the ball, there are been so many times where he has the ball and the defender just takes a wack at the ball and he loses it, he needs to get tougher... mentally and physically!

You have no idea how much I get pissed off when he gets blocked or stripped right underneath the basket. Hell, he gets blocked by the the rim a few times this season. If he can finish around the basket half as good as brook lopez, I think he'd drive more. Ryan Anderson seems to get blocked around the basket a bunch too. I wonder if it is a mental issue or something that can get better with more strength and experience. I think Yi rushes his shots, with his length, he shouldn't get blocked so often. Just need to gather himself and get up strong.

As far as Yi playing late in games, I think Frank played him in games that he played well in. If he struggles offensively, there just isn't any reason he should be playing down the stretch, his defense is questionable and he can pile up mistakes in a hurry.
 
Play him in the 4th quarter? I don't want Frank to play Yi AT ALL
 
He's only in his second year. He's not that good yet, so it's a good idea to have him get most of his minutes early on. But just because Frank doesn't trust him now in the 4th (or he isn't good enough to play in the 4th), doesn't mean it will always be this way.
 
Ryan anderson does get blocked as much as Yi, but the difference is Ryan Anderson goes to the line twice as much in alot less minutes...
 
though yao is definitely heads above yi in talent and potential, yao was the same as yi during his first years in the league...his teammates (specially steve francis) had to teach yao to be more aggressive even with little things like shouting after he dunks on someone...after a while you would see yao in international competition yapping something and getting in someone's face after blocking a shot or dunking or shooting over someone...but sadly we have no one like that in the nets who would teach him...
krstic was much more aggressive than both lopez and yi during his rookie year and forced the refs to call fouls and even made veterans lose their cool by repeatedly throwing his thin frame in the mix down low...
