<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I actually wouldn't mind seeing Boone/Diop. There's a lot of potential for defense-lead fast-breaks there.</div>
No there isn't. The opposing PF would get the ball outside of the paint, make a fake and then blow by which ever player was guarding him for an easy dunk.
</div>
So don't use that against a small lineup then. Boone and Diop are the team's best rebounders and post defenders. That's a great catalyst for fast-break ball.
</div>
I'm not talking about the opposing team using a small ball lineup. Against most PF's both Boone and Diop are at a distinct quickness disadvantage and would get blown by.
</div>
'Blown by' is a stretch, as that isn't an obtuse problem to the degree you inference, and there really aren't any bigs better at guarding bigger players. Nenad? nope. STRO? lol. Sean? he's got potential being more athletic, but he's too awkward and foul prone.
</div>
You are missing the point. Playing one at a time just fine. Playing both of them together is problematic.
</div>
The point I was trying to make is that (one of them) + (a worse defender) has not resulted in big men running into the paint without resistence, so how could both of our best big-defenders be worse?
That's a genuine question. I don't see how both of them is worse than just one on the floor because of the following stipulations: Our team defense to guard against penetration relies on a wing+big defending, not both bigs. If we double team a big on the low block we'll condense our wings and have the other guy guard the weak side, but even then we're talking about strength being a factor in defense, not quickness.
