Kobe's done. The league needs to fix the Lakers with a replacement (and for basically nothing!)

Well, he certainly deserves a nice, long summer in the sun..............

.............then come back to get ready for next season.

I don't like the people down in LA at all.

I lived in between Venice and Westchester for three years right after high-school, I felt the same way as Damian ... for about six months and then the douchebaggery and lack of discernible seasons got to me.

I love Los Angeles. My heart is still in Portland though. But anyone that doesn't like l.a. haven't been to the right places.

Only took me two months to feel that way. I've never felt so alone in my life. I could actually see the people judging whether I was worth knowing when they'd meet me down there. "Does this guy have anything that can benefit me?" The city is built so strongly on networking that it really ruins social interaction. My sister had a bunch of "friends" who all ditched her as soon as she stopped dating a producer.

Of course you love LA, you have money.

Didn't always have money though and still loved it.

Flew home to LA last night from NY. Had a blast in Manhattan, but waking up at the beach this morning was nice. I think LA gets a bad rap from tourists because they spend a lot of time driving through the "concrete jungle". These "rich" ball players are living in really nice areas. For me all the beach communities are nice from Malibu south through. Orange county. (I believe Kove lives in Orange county. Don't get me wrong, for me Portland will always be home, and I love the city. But living in SoCal without a daily commute ain't bad.

70 degrees at the beach all this week. When i go for my walk during the lunch hour today, I will more than likely be the only one there.

Orange County is really nice too. You can live in Santa Clarita and get a great house for a decent price; being only 15-20 minutes away from downtown.

I lived on N. Orange street in Hollywood. Gunfights in the Holiday Inn parking lot. Found some guys head in the dumpster. A guitar player friend was murdered on the street for his instrument. I split a sudio apartment with a bass player from Buffalo, NY, paying a ridiculously high price. One night, he goes to close the sliding glass window and it come off the track, cut the shit out of his hand, so I drive him to the emergency room in Hollywood. Serious wound, bleeding like hell, and we waited 4 hours because we were behind the stabbings and gun shot wounds on the priority list. Charming place.

What about does a decent price mean to us common folk?

2200 square foot 90s tract housing for about $650k.

and Santa Clarita is not 15-20 minutes from downtown, more like 30-45 without traffic. its like 20-30 miles. its like 40 miles from LAX.

I'm sure I would have loved LA in the 40s or 50s, and even the 60s, but now its a yellow-aired over populated rats nest. If I win the lottery maybe I'll fly down and you can show me these "right places" you speak of.

It was more polluted in the 80's. Things really cleaned up in 2000. It's actually not that bad in air quality. We've managed to find a way to use thermal propulsion to blow the smog to Riverside. They don't need good air quality. Most of them are on meth anyway.

It was more polluted in 1970. Then the liberal environmental laws cleaned the air. I was gone 1974-89. When I moved back in 89 I was very surprised at how clear the LA air was. You could actually see hills a mile away. Before, they had been an orange blur.

yeah, its only the worst in the nation.

No. 1: Los Angeles, Calif.
Los Angeles has battled its smog problem as far back as the 1940s, when the city was just a fraction of its size today. Now the nation's second-largest city, Los Angeles has worked hard to combat smog, reducing its car emissions even as the population swelled. Since 1980, peak smog levels have declined by 70% and are now the lowest since the "State of the Air" reports began in 2000. Yet the city still reigns as the nation’s smoggiest.

I bet things are now much better than 1989 and you can barely see hills TWO miles away.

In my town you can see a mountain 60 miles away. With no orange tint. LA is Hell but it used to be even worse.

I CAN WALK THROUGH DOWNTOWN AT 2 AM AND LIVE !!
